So far $120 CAD, but I didn't pay for the LCD or the wood or the glass :P The $120 is 2 15" frensel lenses and a commercial quality projection lense. Im most likly gonna need to redo the lighting system and that will cost about $180 CAD (ouch)... eather way I want the best results I can, Ill prolly have about $100 by next week because it's my birthday so I suspect ill have enugh by mid october, (but you never know, it might work out ^.^ )

Ithink I will be making mine out of a 2.5in lcd, found one for $51 including shipping on ebay. And a person on diyprojectorco made one from an lcd of the smae company, but the 1.8in model, and gets good quality on a 40in screen without a fresnel lens, so I'll see how it goes. I don't want to spend more than $75 on mine if I can, I am always strapped for cash.

Anyone want to buy a colecovision+multiple games for $125? :D j/k

I'm going for the best quality I can so im gonna spend some money, if I can I plan on keeping this for a good long whyle, I mean seriously, who would ever want to get rid of a 80"+ TV :P

This will most likly be a very long ongoing project as I move along, I plan on upgradeing the components as much as I can.

Yep, I'm definitely feelin' good today.

My 15" Viewsonic Flatpanel(for my projector) arrived at the house today. ($80 on Ebay--woohoo!)

But perhaps the best find was when I went to the State Surplus today and found a $300 Buhl overhead projector for get this: ONE DOLLAR!!!!!! I STILL CAN'T GET OVER THIS! IT'S ALMOST LIKE I PAID TO STEAL IT!

And it works great- aside from a shattered internal reflecting mirror, the thing folds up into a suitcase shape and has twin 410 watt bulbs- that's plenty of brightness!!!

The mirror can easily be replaced.
If all else fails, take it apart!

I've been thinking lately about how cool it would be to make an LCD projector out of Apple's 30" Cinema Display HD. Just think: 2,550 x 1,600 pixels and a display that's approximately 20 feet diagonally! The projector would have to be huge to house a 30" LCD panel though…

and if you did that you would have a mob of apple users chasing after you for the rest of your life for the desecration of such beautiful technology

Damn Canada post to a small hole in the ground...

My package gets sent out on Monday... alls cool, it reaches New York on Tuseday and im all like yay! I will be here in like 2 days (I live a 17 hr drive from NYC) then the geniouses at USPS and Canada Post decided lets send it to Vancover, BC for clearing (I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, witch is on the other side of the frikin country from Vancouver....) So now im prolly gonna have to wait till next Wenday or Thirsday before my parts get here.... oh and by the way my projector is 98% finished... all I need to do is fix a FCC on my screen (comes with the kit) and line up the frensels so I can cut the hole for the projection lense... CURSE YOU CANADA POOOOOOST!!!!!

well, i found I can cut out the fresnel by getting a surplus rear projection lens, so I found I can put one with a 40-60in screen together for about $150
