The controller is actually part of the laptops motherboard, so unfortunately you can't remove it.

Anyways, it would be pretty hard to tell from those pictures, but you might be able to test them to see if they have anything to do with the video. If they are the controller, you might have lucked out and gotten a nice screen.

well, it was made in 1994, i know that... my mom had it for a while and gave it to me... like 5 years ago... i have 2 of them (plus 2 other random laptops) i use none of htem as they are pretty obsolete now, until now...
i have to go to work in about 30 minutes, but i get off at 5(am) so ill check tommarow and see what i can do.
Wow '94! Take a step back for one, that screen is almost gerenteed to be a passive matrix display. For portables that means you'll have blurry images. You can continoue trying to make that portable with that laptop screen but it will not look half as good as say something like the hip screens.

Well there is a member/guest thats looking to use the hip gear screen (controller thingy) as the screen for his NESp. They're about $30 maybe cheaper if you look around.
I've taken mine apart (again) last night and the screen if fully independent of the controller.
Or as most of the members do use ebay and look for a cheap PSOne screen or portable tv.

and i went looking for a psone screen today, all the places i checked dont have them... and my poop egress friend wants to sell me his plus the psone for like 90$... so copulate that..
anyways... i think i may just quit on this, as i am saving up money to buy an engine for my car anyways, and this is getting to be a little pricey.

I thought I'd post this here, instead of a new topic because it involves laptop ideas. Has anyone been able to mod a DVD drive to read GD-Rom's and DVD's? Also has anyone created any kind of hard drive storage mod? I read about this once a long time ago, but can't remember where. Also, how would you go about putting a screen into a laptop case so that it can run DC games?
The point of that post is the fact I want to make a Laptop DC. Kind of like a Treamcast, but thinner, and with a built in keyboard for games and internet use. I know this will cost a ton of money, but I think it would be pretty sweet to have a DC laptop. Tell me what you think, and any tips you can come up with.
Well there will never be a dvd-rom that will read GD discs. The GD discs are propritary, the next best thing is a cd-rom, as many Dreamcast can boot cd-r the have become an easy way to play emulators or copies.
Hard drive, I've read of atleast two members that are trying, do a search of this fourm to find the posts.
You can make the Dreamcast width less (cut out the sides and modem), the depth is going to be a little harder, same with the length.
