Nes case 90% complete..now pc board connections

I am just about done with my NESp case. All that is left to do with it is cut out the shape for the PSone screen and the nes controls. (The reason why I haven't yet is because I need to buy both of them

) Well, I based my design kind of like that french dude who made the NPES (I think its called) Here are some pics:

Yeah, its a little on the thick side, but hey cut me some slack its my first attempted portable

Now I'm on to soldering connections to pc board. I am following Ben's instructions (on the hand built nes) of how the right pc board front is configured. And they seem to have new kinds of pieces that weren't stated to buy from the book such as the LM317T Regulator, .1uf capacitor,or the 1 uf capacitor. Do these pieces come from the actual nes controller or do I have to buy them at like Radio Shack? Well thanks for all the help so far...I hope to have this done in a month or two

With that size you could just turn it into a smaller NES.

Yeah, the size is on the big side

but that was the only way I could get it to fit where I didn't have to relocate the cartridge slot at all. (Maybe if I finish the portable correctly, I may try relocating the cartridge slot to make it smaller)

I'm also planning on adding NES decals to it also, but that will probably be more towards the end of my project. I still have a long ways to go but I promise to keep you guys updated on my progress. Even though it is on the thick side, it feels real comfortable to hold it. And the best part is I only spent about $1.89 on the case. Which includes using the nes board, spray painted wood for the sides, and plastic covering from a strong binder on the back. I love using the junk in my house, it works out very nicely

Well I was wondering if anyone could answer any of my questions also...like the uf capacitators...are they on the nes controllers or do I need to buy them separately? Also, does anyone know a good place to buy ribbon cable from? thanks again-minkster

I believe there are no caps needed for a NES controller, (though there are some on the motherboard that connect to the controllers), just resistors. You need 48k resistors connected to +5v and the pins of the chip, and tact switches connected to the chip (same places) and the ground.

I'm following Ben's Left and Right PC board connections according to his book, and it shows where the 1 and .1uf capacitors should be. I did stumble upon these 2 items while searching under radioshack.

Would these parts be fine to use according to Ben's book? I'm not too sure about the .1uf capacitor since it is a ceramic capacitor and not electric...would that effect it in any way?

Sorry for all these questions...I'm noobish at this stuff.
