Atari 800P, maybe not anymore

well, I was wondering, since no one has done this, I was wondering if anyone thinks that it will be possible to portablize the atari 800, big and bulky, I know
but, seeing how the motherboard isn't all that big, I was wondering if maybe you could hook up some sort of laptop keyboard to it? possibly a printer like, stuck on the back, and a disk drive slimed down, its all in the planning stages, but think about it, the first atari 800-p
crappy games I would imagine, but, i'm gonna give it a shot, as soon as I get one that is....

Well not the 800 but Ben has been working on I believe the XE or XEGS (on of the last computers in the 8bit line). The only thing keeping him from showing it off is lack of a screen (he wants the screen to run on a7.2v battery). Ben you ready should just throw a PSone screen on there and say done, its not likely you'll find a 7" on the runs on 5v.

Now if you want to make one I'd say go with the XE line. They're the last and so are the most robust and compact when it comes to circuitry.

as far as slimming the disk drive down, if I recall I spotted an expensive compact flash solution for it--while searching for my c64 one.

you probably do want to use an atari with a separate keyboard, though.

I told him about a 7" screen that runs off 5V

unipack OEM 7.2" or 7.6" ( i forget)
