Format Gameboy.

SO, I gotta few old GBA's and and GB's at home, so I was wondering if you format a gameboy, will it also format a cartridge in it? Making it blank, you could save cash on Gba storage devices? Or would the gameboy be blank? Imagine the possibilitites, like what you could upload, any info or support? I dont know what you could upload! But I think I mite be onto something!

Um, Gameboy BIOS software is permanently written in Read-Only Memory, as is the games.

In order to play downloaded homebrews on your GBA you'd need to buy a flash cart.

that is retarded
1. reformat the gameboy? since when does the gameboy have a harddrive or other storage device
2. as they've said, both the gameboy and the games are ROMS, not RAMS
3. there would be no way to upload it anyway

I think I get what you're saying now.

because of the way standard rom is created you can not overwrite it. You can, of course replace the cart's rom with flash and write to it via USB through the GBA network port.

There are numerous commercial solutions for this. There used to be do-it-yourself instructions around but the commercial products have since gotten so inexpensive that it's no longer worth it.
