Decent 5" LCD from allelectronics.com

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Decent 5" LCD from allelectronics.com

Post by marshallh »

I got a 5" lcd from All Electronics, hopefully all of you know they are in the surplus business. This LCD is $95 and the image quality is decent, no smearing because it's a TFT.

The only problem I am having with this screen is that the CCFL tube is in a U arrangement, and modding it with LEDs has been difficult.

YES! Finally someone else who goes to allelectronics!

Anyway, I was looking at it, and it looks really decent. Theyre kinda expensive, but not if you can afford those things rather than Psones...

I got some arcade buttons, switches, and N64 Heatsinks from there a few years ago. It's a nice site.

I got a 4 inch for a 100 from I-Mcm. Pricy, but I tested the 12 V and the pic quality is AMAZING. It really is a TV. Btw, wanna trade anyone.

My LCD is like a 'hi def' thing. And the control board is EXACTLY the same size as the LCD, a mesmarizing 4x5. :D

Sure, but I have to say something. The whole LCD of mine, has a LOT of problems sometimes. The power and video is connected through a wire amp, you plug in the amp to the control board using magnetic strips, which I already did. So power problems, but no video problems really sometimes, EXTREMELY occasionally. If you cant get it to work. I'll wait a week and tell me if anything goes wrong, ill gladly trade back.

If you're willing to take the risk, to help a 13 year fufill a dream, then do it. If yes, may the portable gods bless you. If no, may the portable gods STILL bless you. :)

how come it has so many problems??

i mean did it come out of the package like that or did you do somrthing to it to get is acting like that??

sorry but if it isn't a 100% working screen i don't want it

and by the way a psone screen isn't that expensive so i think it is better just to get one yourself sorry..

I didn't do anything to it, it's like a well you know, weird screen. The only thing is that the power has to be DIRECT. :)
