as you said, though, most kids have them....I guess that the ones without them and/or the ones with some money will buy them...I, for one, would never get one....unless, of course, I could get it for REALLY cheap...then I'd have to mod it a bit :P...
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Plus remember the iPod is getting features with each version, be it more storage space or better features or, most recently, a color screen. The GBA is at a standstill, it hasn't gotten any gameplay enhancements besides the lit screen, which was easily fixed with the Afterburner or a Worm Light anyways.

The PSone and the PStwo were redesigns of the same console, sure. BUT they were released preceeding the release date of their sucessors, ie the PSone came out in '00, before the PS2 was launched, and now the pstwo came out before the PS3. Plus there were a few firmware revisions in them, which made at least rthe pstwo more stable. It just added echo effects to the audio CD player on the PSone. The micro came out months AFTER the DS, which was probably supposed to be the sucessor to the GBA systems? The reason for its existence? EASY MONEY FOR NINTENDO.
(and maybe a hack to make it fit in a SNES controller by me if it gets cheaper than $100. :P)

Now for the big challenge:

Give me 5 reasons the micro is better than the other GBA systems that have nothing to do with size.

Zing! :P

I'm not going to pretend that its spectacular, there's nothing about it that's too remarkable about it except its size, brighter screen, and removable faceplates. My stance is just that this is an alternative to the other systems. Would I rather have gotten a successor to the GBA than the Gameboy Micro? Yes. However, I'd rather take the Micro than nothing at all, which is what would've happened if they had not decided to create the Micro.

Oh, and the DS is not meant to take the place of the GBA. Nintendo has made it very clear that the DS is their "third pillar" (weird, but that's what they call it!). There will be a new gameboy sometime, people are calling it the Gameboy Evolution currently. The GC, GBA, and DS were meant to coexist at the same time, with the innovative aspects of Nintendo being channeled to the DS while the GBA is totally devoted to button mashing. Hope that clears up some confusion.

If people can't do math, let me do it

150.00= Nintendo DS: A SYSTEM WITH A GBA AND A SPECTACULAR NEW SYSTEM

99.99= GBA MICRO, A GBA, WITH A SMALLER SCREEN AND SIZE. BUT REMEMBER THE DS HAS A GBA.

150.00=DS, DS+GBA
99.00=GBM, GBA
249.00=Why the hell do it, honestly...

Why did you add 150.00 to 99.99? No one is going to buy both, the question is which one do you buy. At this point, math has very little to do with it. It's more about options, asthetics and that final 30 bucks...

My reasoning was wrong, but really the GBM doesn't make sense to make. After two HUGEEEEEEEEE waves, you think a lot of people would get the GBA format by now. And the HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR wave of Ds, practically insured the ownage of a GBA.

The point being that it is small as freakin' hell, I had my DS in my pocket for like, almost two hours, and it wasnt very comfortable. Its not the same story with the Micro.

I'm not sure what the confusion is here :?

Nintendo is a business. Businesses exist in order to make money. Is the GBA Micro revolutionary? No. Is it even evolutionary? Not really. Will it make money for Nintendo? Obviously some high executive in the company thinks the answer is yes, and he is probably right.

The cost to build the Micro is not likely much higher than the cost to build a GBA SP, so they can slap on an extra 30 or 40 dollars for pure profits sake. Also, as has been mentioned, they are trying to draw in the trendy preppy crowd.

The Nintendo heads are sitting high and happy knowing that they will continue to earn their salaries, and that they will not be forced to go the route of Sega (yet).

Ok, I'm done rambling now.

I just bought mine--prebought more like it. It won't be in until tomorrow. (figers crossed) Both gamestores in the immediate area have two preorders a piece--but this really isn't much of a preorder system. As GBA battery doors and screens go out, GBMs or DSes will just be the natural purchase for the next couple years. I have yet to see a reason for me to buy the DS, but this might change.

What price are they in japan? we do have a member stationed in japan, so there's a small possibility of saving some money through him with his heavily discounted military postage. (if GBMs are really cheaper over there, which I doubt)
