DIY Projector - Completed!

No these just look like normal bulbs on steroids. and they have a relitivly small filiment (about 1" long). My laptop screen had 2 defuser pannels that spread the light out, when I put a normal 500 Lumens light bulb behind it without the pannel there was a small bright spot in the center and it dimmed out around the edges. With the pannel on tho the surface was lit almost evenly (altho there were some loss of light around the edge it was almost compleetly even across the LCD). It was also very bright for only a 500 Lumens bulb. This was in a hardly dark room (blinds let the light in) and with the bulb sitting behind behind the screen about 1 foot away without any type of box to hold and direct the light towards the screen.
Since the bulb is only $5 CDN I think I can safly give it a try, if its not bright enugh ill just use it till I can afford a 16,000 lumens MH bulb and converter.

Well I got the light today, 6000 lumens, VERY freaking bright, it lit the room almost as well as 4 floresent lights on the celing. Im gonna find a reflector and put it in the box and then the light should be amazing. Im gonna start my box tommorow, my lenses and frenzels should be here sometime next week and I should have the projecter finished by next saturday (my birthday, what a present
)
Ok a small update. The box has been built and im gonna go out and paint it with the heat resistant paint in about 5 mins. I managed to find a metal bowl to use as a reflector with an inside so smooth you can see your reflection perfectly in it, should work well. My birthday is wenday (party is saturday) and I was hoping to have the projector ready by then, unfortunatly the order for the lenses and a fcc was sent in on thirsday but won't get shiped till tommorow so theres almost no chance of it getting here (but it still might happen (prays). After I get it all in the box ill post a bunch of pics on my design and how to make it.

Can't wait to see how it turns out. I hope that bulb works for you (and heat isn't an issue). If it does, I may be looking into it for a replacement
. The bulb I have in mine is a 2100 lumen, 100 watt dioptic halogen spotlight. I usually have to use the brightness boost (only using composite) to get a bright enough image :\.
Well shes painted (barly). Never painted with spray paint before lol, was an interesting experence
. I hope the light works too, if its not bright enugh christmas is only 3 months away and my birthday is only 4 days away, so I should be able to buy a light set from lumenlab, its only $150 USD but the bulbs are $50 each (20,000 hours tho) can't complain about 33,000 lumens.
Ok, since I'm totaly impashent and never like to wait at all (ever) I decided to do a test of the light the LCD is letting through. I had my 2 ft long box, strapped my LCD to the front of the box, held my old page magnifyer (150" TV scam I got off the net) about a foot and a half away from the laptop screen and low and behold an image appeared... now let it be said it was fuzzy as all get out but I was very surpirzed how bright it was, I had no reflector in, the light was pouring out too holes in the bottom and out of a 2 inch gap below the LCD, not to mention there was no frenzel between the light and the LCD and the magnifying frenzle was out in the open.

now ive started my own project. i bought one of those LCD screens for an overhead projector because it has RCA input for video as well as VGA. im using a 500w halogen flood light for the light source and a 49mm camera lens . soon as i finish this thing im throwing a big party with lots og games, DDR, movies, and anime!!! all outside on the front of the garage!
heheh...all im doing is waiting for my screen to arrive in the mail and in 2 days i could finish the sucker.

Mines almost finished yay!... the only thing im waiting on is my lenses than apperintly according to USPS left the US almost 3 days ago, so im gessing its in customs atm or just about ready to get here. Im getting my two frensles and a projector lense that will both focus the light and project it, since im not useing a super good light it's not gonna be amazingly bright but I plan on getting a lighing kid from lumenlab at some point when I have the money (yay christmas
). After shes all done ill put up as many picks as I can think of.
