If someone were to say, make a SNES portable, Would you keep it as small as possible and hook up the hip gear screen, Or make it larger with a Psone screen?

I'd make it as small as possible.
Either A:
-rotate the cartridge slot 90 degrees so the cart slides down the back of the motherboard when the board is held with a landscape orientation.
-controls on either side of the screen, ala GBA
-4 AA batteries, 2 on each side of the cartridge
-enclosed cartridge slot with L and R buttons on the back
(it would kind of be like a Game Gear)
Or B:
-Copy the CNC SNES from the book, but make the cartridge insert in a similar manner as in example A.

Good. Rewire the cart slot flat, and keep it small. I think Ive given away Secret project "Who knows?" already. Ive got the SNES mini and a Psone screen coming most likley. Ive got boards of each here, and I can make the Psone screen small enough too keep the overall size as long as the SNES board, as wide as a SNES cart, and I'd Have to get everything wired to get a thickness. Currently it runs off of 4 AAs and tomorrow I plan on wiring the controller directly to the board. Then get the screen, wire it up and make the case. I figure while waiting to wire it up and working, and times at school, I can design the case.
Hopefully If my brother finishes his as well, Il have a Super cool 2 player port. More on that later, Pretty much not wiring it up until its confirmed his portable is near finish.
Luckily as for money goes, I have enough to get a screen and parts.
So overall, I might make some drawings, but most likley not as most things I draw never end up getting made.....
more on that one later....

if you make it like mine you can have it pretty small, less than 2" thick and about the width of the cart and height of the snes board, you could probably fit a psone screen on it, but it would be a bit thicker

This guy makes us look like rednecks. Seriously, the amount of work he puts into the cases is amazing.

there is a big difference between making the case yourself and designing it and paying someone else to make it for you

Re: Snes-P question
definatly psone screen, a 5" screen is worth having a slightly bigger portablebioniclebert wrote:If someone were to say, make a SNES portable, Would you keep it as small as possible and hook up the hip gear screen, Or make it larger with a Psone screen?

The way I have it designed, Psone screen will do. It will be 1 cart wide and about as big as the board. Probably very thin. the batteries will actually be inside the unit meaning you open the side door and pull the battery pack out. (like in stuffed animals, you rip open the velcro and put the batteries in the pack. Then you stiff it back in and close it.)
Since its a PSONE screen, Il have 6 AAs. 4 are wired to the SNES and 6 to the screen. It also provides enough voltage if using rechargeables.
For the screen. Im hoping to get the Psone screen ASAP. Ive got enough money for one (about 25$). then cut up the screen to fit into some sort of case. Today Ive got to measure parts and find a good case. If I find some good stuff, I may change the type of screen I use. Personally I think The Hip gear screen is too small, But the Psone takes up a little more room. I dunno, More updates later...
