i opened up my mouse last night cause i was thinking of modding it and then a little wire thingy that was attached to the wheel fell off and i didnt remember where it went, so after 10 minutes of trying different places i gave up, next i saw that the whell was smooth now so i tried useing on my computer and it still works! and theres no anoying clikck now

The gear that was there to keep it from moving the way it does now is so that you have more control when generally scrolling. Most people or at least the designers of mice think people are too stupid to adjust the mouse to fit them or jus conform themselves around the way it works.
I have a mouse that is the same way as I took it apart. I havent used it so dont know exactly if it would be to my liking.
