No case forum so heres my case question NEW PICS!
Hi,
I need the help of someone who has worked with tackleboxes. I can't seem to get it to sand smooth. Im using the highest grit, and primed it as much as I can. Also I can't get the bondo to stay smooth when sanded. It seems that just before it would be sanded smooth it cracks. I think this type of plastic is not very good for working with, but I could be wrong.
Please help me
Thanks
I might post a picture, but then everyone would see it before Jeffslot.

Man I don't have a dremel.
Every project I have done is with an exacto, nibbler, bondo, and sandpaper. Heres a few pics of the front (so you can see what I'm worried about)

Camera quality is kind of poor but you can get a feel for what I'm talking about. See those cracks they look even worse in real life? If I sand anymore they get bigger and if I add more bondo obviously its appearance is less smooth.
Wonder what Jeffslot wants me to do.

Okay here's the deal, tackle boxes are made from a waxy plastic called polyethylene (or polypropolene). Normal glues and paint will not stick to it. To defeat this evil substance of plastic, you will have to use special super glue glue made for especially for plastics. It comes in a pack with a primer stick (that somehow makes it so that superglue will stick to it) and superglue. It's made by LOCTITE. You can find it at almost any hardware store. For paint, get Rust-Oleum plastic primer, then you can use any paint you want.. I found all this out when working on my upcoming GM64, because the VHS cases are made from polyethelene.

It wouldn't work too well for large cracks/gaps since it's just normal superglue that comes with it. BUT you can get some gel superglue and use that with the primer stick. Any glue will work on the primed surface as long as it's superglue (epoxy will not stick)
All this superglue talk reminds me of when MacGyver made some from vodka and some other junk

I see. I think I might make a bezel type thing and put it on there for support and decoration of course!
Heres what I'm thinking of doing.

I might try to make it more round, but thats my solution. What do you think? Also, what kind of plastic would I use? I was thinking of cutting up one of those three-ring binders for some good plastic in a good color.
