dosent look like half ass to me
Well now tell me how many processor cycles per second each one can do. Megahertz is not a very good way to judge a computer's (or console's) speed anymore.

*NOT EXACT BUT THIS MUST BE HOW IT WORKS*
The PS2 takes smaller chunks of data at once and uses its full power to calculate it all in 7 cycles. On the other hand the GC takes larger chunks and has to convert that in 22 cycles. This would put the PS2 in the same boat, or a faster one, as the GC. Now if they hit a pipeline bubble, such as a misread of the disc, the PS2 only wastes 7 processor cycles on the bad data, while the GC wastes 20. This puts the PS2 ahead.

(I got this info from a comparison between the G4 and the Pentium 4, which uses those exact numbers. The numbers for the consoles probably differ from the ones I listed.)

Plus what's the L2 procesor cache for each system? Video memory? Coprocessor? Do they use 32 or 64 bit processors? (NOT the 128 bit graphics, that just describes graphic appearance) Just megahertz and memory alone don't make or break a comparison.

(Plus add in the PS2's hard drive, networkability, DVD playback, and it leaves the GC in the dust for actual functional, PRACTICAL features.

ok every one here goes... it wont work no one will buy it because its not good looking and it makes people look stupid. taking away the normal way to play games is a bad idea, developers wont build for the REV. and no one will want to play on it. any one who thinks other wise about the good things is right that the controller is new and blaw freaking blah. its still a stupid move and will kill them. i will buy a rev, but what games will be out for it what game developers will want feature the remote? and what kind of crazy atachments will nintendo make us pay through the nose for? non of this matters because no one wants to look that stupid wile playing a game.

Just a note back on topic about the controller.

I was looking at the revolution controller, and I laughed. Why? Because I thought about MAD CATS and how they might attempt to remake this controller. :)

Oh boy, 3rd party controllers are going to be a hoot for the Rev.

As for you guys not liking the controller, I can understand that. I think that Bicostp and Luc have both backed up their arguments fairly well, saying why they dislike it. However, I would just like to tell the both of you that your opinion isn't everyone's opinion, and as such the Revolution will sell. Yes, some people dislike the controller, but just as many do like the controller, and therefore it will sell. We have yet to see the games, but apparently launch titles will be SSB and a new Mario game with MP3 following soon after. Sounds like a freakin good launch to me, which will drive sales even more. I don't see Nintendo disappearing anytime soon, since as you both pointed out, they do have rights to plenty of franchises that people buy the console just to play them. And besides, if people decide not to embrace the controller, they always have the shell that they could revert to and just make normal games for that. Then the next generation they could try innovating again or just take a safe route. I can understand your reasons for not liking it, but I do personally like it, and think it will expand gaming's limits. Ok, I guess I'm done.

Ah the eye toy...how many games were made for that poor thing? 2, 3? How knows, people are crazy. Maybe this will spark a new geneartion of active gaming. We might be witnessing the dawn of of this movement, and the dusk of standard controllers. This might be Nintendo's highest point. We might look back on this console as the one that really started it all.

Or as the stake to Nintendo's heart. As I've said a dozen times:

Time has a way of telling. Foresight is blind and hindsight is 20/20...

oh i do too. i remember when the Genesis fighting thing came out, i wanted that thing so bad. Or the giant Genesis gun contraption, finally to play lethal enforcers 2 with a real light gun would've been well, lethal. It probably will suck, just like all of the other stupid silly controllers and crap. But i like using the stupid silly stuff, cause it just seems more...playful. It probably wont even sell either. I dont even play video games anymore, but i think it would be a fun thing to dick around with when you're bored. Or maybe i just might get back into games if they show some cool ones. I mean the last good video games to come out were DooM III and Half-life 2, and those were PC games. So as far as im concerned if any of the companies make games, they will most likely just be crap new video games. But who didn't see that coming? not me

oh and

I guess this isn't exactly new information or anything, but you're gonna look like a wiener (or poindexter) playing any video game. There is absolutely no way to play video games and look cool at the same time, unless Hollister or something makes a console, and i dont see that happening in the nearest millenia...Oh and no it isn't cool to be a nerd anymore. They havent made a new Revenge of the Nerds movie in the last decade. Sorry guys...

Who cares about how you look, especially while playing video games. Your having fun playing a video game while everyone else is too busy pretending to be smart, trying to hard to be "cool", and buying up tattered clothing.

BTW you may have seen my post way back there somewhere where I talked about how the controller should have been (I even put up a crumy mockup) and I found this yesterday:

That was exactly what I was talking about! Obviously, this one has the pistol grip attachments on. *asks self* Are my thoughts being broadcasted? *room mate answers from across room* Yes.
