And the GBA mario remakes were? Let me rephrase, a laptop with the CAPABILITIES to play halo...in my pocket...ya dip..MajorLag wrote:Thats not innovation. Thats the same old crap, only now its in portable form!3. You say you want innovation> Well so do I. I'd like to have a laptop that could fit in my pocket and still play HALO.
That sales graph has been misused time and time again. One thing you need to consider is that Nintendo's sales have still gone down and when they hit zero, it won't make a damn difference how much their crap costs. It's all bye bye, then...MajorLag wrote: Oh yeah. They're doing a lot of suffering. I mean, for the last year they've been losing money like crazy! Oh.. no wait..:
Oh really, so the fact that we've all been complaining about the Remakes, MP's, and MSports means what to you? crap games are crap games. You can't fight that..MajorLag wrote:Nintendo isn't making excrement games. Not by a longshot.Think about it. What did atari do? They made excrement games and produced too much "ground breaking hardware". You think this is all a coincidence? Not a fat chance.
Now let me sum up:MajorLag wrote: Let me sum this up:
You can hate the Rev. controller. You're welcome to your opinion that its a bad idea. You can even hat Nintendo and their games. And you'd probably be right if you said that the Revolution won't dominate the console market. But saying that it will be Nintendo's downfall is absolutely rediculous.
Nintendo made a very wise choice with the GC. They made it cheap. Cheap to make, cheap to sell. But when the time comes and the number sold of one console or another (I'm sure more are on the way) really does hit 11, It won't matter if each one is sold at 200 dolars, they won't satnd a chance. Bussiness smarts means not having to cover your ass. So that if people don't like your games, you have more. You don't rebound with a new crap console. I don't like the NR, and I have given valid reasons for Nintendo's posibilities for failure.

nope your stupid because you think i want to also look like a retard when i play mario kart. i love the ninendo revolution untill they came out with the TV remote. now i think its time to let them kill them selfs!!! kill them selfs before they mess up a good thing like there old games, there controller and the more than over crowding in metal insitutions. you know how many people are going to be comited for playing the next donkey kong game? far to many for any one to safly treat. so soon instead of making them stop seeling games we will just have to round up all the nintendo rev players and systematicly whipe them all out... (also dreamcast fanboys, and gipsys)MajorLag wrote:Let me get this straight: We're the psycho drooling fanboys, because we think that innovation is more important than the graphics pissing contest that MS and Sony seem so caught up in? Because we like the idea that a company is willing to experiment and possibly change the face of gaming forever?
Give me a f'ing break. Leave us alone to enjoy what might be the most balsy move in gaming since... well possibly ever. Go play the same old games over and over agian (but with better graphics!) if thats what you want. Nintendo isn't targeting you, they don't need you. They're targeting the market that has been begging for smoething new and different for the last couple of console generations, as well as people who've never played games before and have difficulty with 40 button controllers. Not to mention all the retro gamers out there who will be absolutely overjoyed that the system will give them the ability to play games from days gone by legaly. Especially since it was recently announced that Nintendo will be giving away its entire first party NES, SNES, and N64 game library free.
So preach doom and gloom for the Big N if thats how you get your rocks off, but frankly, we don't care what you think.

I was thinking more about the Revolution controller and why it's not a good idea. The big one is FATIGUE.
Everyone is like, "wow you can swing a Zelda sword!" or "wave it around to punch someone!" Ok great. So what about those bosses who take 1000 hits to kill, or a bad guy who takes 500 punches to knock down? You're going to be FRICKING TIRED by time it's done.
Instead of moving your thumb or finger to do something you'll now have to more your entire arm, or at least forearm. Sure people use TV remotes, even hold them for hours on end. But they don't USE them constantly (ok, some guys do but I digress)
It's true some sort of new controller would be nice since games are in 3D, movement in games is 3D but gamepads are 2D. However I don't believe something as completey off-the-wall as this is the answer. Why couldn't all this stuff be put in a REGULAR controller? Oh right, because then they couldn't sell you the CONTROLLER SHELL as extra. Nintendo makes a profit because they sell you all this extra crap on top of stuff you already bought (and endless GBA models)
Something else, physical movement is kind of arbitrary, while button pushing is not. Example: I ALWAYS leaned when dodging asteroids in the old Starfox game. But of course I was also pushing buttons. So now my leans are translated to the game? Ok fine. But I have to completely center my body to fly straight then? Lean forward to dive? There's no physical "center point" when you're moving around like that. A button/ joypad HAS a center "off" point. I can foresee a lot of "sliding" in these games.
One last thing. What was so great about the original D pad Nintendo came up with years ago is it reduced the amount of movement required to control your character. As in, a joystick might have to be moved 3/4" over to make your guy run right, with the D pad you just press a bit with your thumb (also strongest finger) and he moves. A lot less effort means a lot faster response. Now they're going backwards with this I feel.

I really hope that Nintendo makes this a sort of all purpose alternative to lightguns, fishing controller, drumstick, sword, eyetoy/motion tracker.. whatever... but uses it to supliment regular gameplay.. So for example, the new Mario 128 or Zelda 8: Wrath of Darth Ganon(
) would use a regular gamepad but have sequences that use the swiss army remote.. You could wave a carrot in front of Epona too win a race, or catch fish in a mini game, or shoot wooden ducks in a carnival.. but then its back to using the gamepad again.. OR you could use the gamepad in a FPS game and have the remote clipped to your shirt or belt to track latteral movement so you could look around corners or dodge rockets.. or alternatively you could just use the strafe buttons if you choose.. Nintendo should make the remote controller more of an addition and not the ONLY way Revolution games can be played. Sort of test the waters and see how people like it before betting the farm that people will.. The first NES had the lightgun, gamepad, Gyrobot thingy.. Nobody really cared for the robot and there was only one game.. No big deal.. same thing with the Powerpad.. (I bet they wish theyd thought of DDR back then) Even the lightgun had just a handful of games. Nintendo should include a gamepad with the Revolution or at the very least a relabeled GC controller with the new system. It might add a few $$ to production but it would be great insurance from failure..

I think this is just what the doctor ordered. To me games were strting to get boreing, I dont know what going to be so good about the ps3 or xbox 360, there going to be the same games only prettier NOTHING new. I for one dont give a excrement about graphics, I just want to have fun. Im not saying the ps3 and xbox 360 are going to be bad but,If graphics are all that matters to some people then I dont think the rev will float their boat. for everyone else I think this a refreshing change of pace. And another thing when we grew up we had a d-pad and 2 buttons (or even less) but 300 buttons are going too be to intemidating to the next generation (of people of course) and they will grow up not likeing video games and in turn video games wont last any much longer after that. Im probably over reacting, more likely than not I am, but better safe than sorry.
