Revolution Controller PICTURES!

If there's one thing I've learned from visiting these forums, its that the best games and systems have been retro ones. Why? There was new stuff. Advancements in ways to play games such as the thumbstick for the N64, the rumble feature, and the D-pad itself. What really has this recent generation offered us that's too extraordinary from previous generations? Graphics. While I like a game to look great, I'd still rather see improvements on other levels. With a focus on graphics only, the developers will be spending all their time scrutinizing over all the little graphical details and games will all be uniform, with no new ideas/storylines. Well, then, what does gaming need? I've become bored with my Gamecube and PS2. For me, gaming needs innovation.
So this upcoming generation, we have Microsoft and Sony creating consoles with incredible hardware for the reason of advancing graphics. It may work for some people, and if you are one who wants graphical improvements, then be my guest, go buy a PS3 or Xbox360. I won't be calling you an idiot or saying "OMG! You bought a PS3?! Sony sucks!", I'll just assume that's what you want out of a console.
For me, I loved the DS. I loved how it allowed me to interact with the game even more. Long have I been punching buttons on a controller, wishing I could control it with more precision and ease. For portables, the DS is my answer. The touch screen allows me to actually experience the games, and not just mash buttons. While I may not need some of the features of the DS such as the two screens or the microphone, I still appreciate what they have included since they are trying to make gameplay more unique.
Well, if you've read my entire post this far, then, you'll probably be able to guess why I'm behind the Revolution and its controller. Its offering a unique way to play games, and that's what I want. The controller isn't for everyone, but it is for me. We've become too used to the idea of a traditional controller that now that we are presented with a completely new idea for a controller all we can do is bash it. Change can be good sometimes, we can't stay with the same thing forever.
What really makes me frustrated is when people get bogged down by the way the controller looks, and call it crap. Everyone has their own opinion on how things should look, so if you say that it looks terrible, some will have a completely different idea. Also, don't refer to me as a mindless Nintendo zombie as I'm sure you probably were going to, as I have been called that for supporting some of Nintendo's decisions before. I haven't agreed with them all, so don't think that I blindly follow the company. I've owned Nintendo consoles, but I also have a PSone, a PSX, and a PS3. I'm currently saving up for a PSP, and I enjoy playing Xbox just as much as any Microsoft fanboy. Again, I'll say it: If you just want graphical enhancements, I won't bother you, go buy Xbox 360 or the PS3. But as for me, I want to play games differently, so I'm behind the Revolution's philosophy.

I tend to think the same way you do, always looking forward to change.
I think that a lot of new technology has stumbled just because people do not want to ruffle their feathers.
Just think of what our automobiles would look and be like today, if only society would let go of their obsession with piston engines!

I have not bought a GC, because I did not like the controller and games. This looks like the same kinda junk. The rest of you mindless fanboys can have it, enjoy your remote. I will be playing my N64 remembering the good ol days....
Something else, are we sure this is really the actual controller? Does this mean the Rev is just a NES remade? I am so confused... They just can't be doing this...

Damn you! Why couldn't you stop when you had nintendo going good?!
I am actually near tears right now. After seeing the GBm, the DS, and now this... I weep for nintendo.

Let me get this straight: We're the psycho drooling fanboys, because we think that innovation is more important than the graphics pissing contest that MS and Sony seem so caught up in? Because we like the idea that a company is willing to experiment and possibly change the face of gaming forever?
Give me a f'ing break. Leave us alone to enjoy what might be the most balsy move in gaming since... well possibly ever. Go play the same old games over and over agian (but with better graphics!) if thats what you want. Nintendo isn't targeting you, they don't need you. They're targeting the market that has been begging for smoething new and different for the last couple of console generations, as well as people who've never played games before and have difficulty with 40 button controllers. Not to mention all the retro gamers out there who will be absolutely overjoyed that the system will give them the ability to play games from days gone by legaly. Especially since it was recently announced that Nintendo will be giving away its entire first party NES, SNES, and N64 game library free.
So preach doom and gloom for the Big N if thats how you get your rocks off, but frankly, we don't care what you think.

I don't really feel like reading seven pages of posts, but I got the idea. And generally agree with the 'seasoned' video gamers.
A lot of people don't like the revolution controller for the simple reason that it's actually very revolutionary--different than what's come before. I hear the jokes at video game stores and politely stay out of it. Those sports-playing console loyalists are going to keep sony and microsoft in profits.
The only thing that would make them happy is a standard left-handed controller that looks and feels like everybody else's. And then they *STILL* wouldn't buy it
...how revolutionary would that be...
this controller shows so much potential for moving a the specialty arcade experience into our homes that it's not even funny. Instead of buying a special controller for certain games, this controller takes the place of *ALL OF THEM*.
light gun? yep
fishing controller? yep
fire hose? sure
sword? okay
the possibilities are endless for FPS and survival horror. Revolution just may be the FPS box--that'd shock microsoft. (not that i'm an fps fan) and imagine flashlight work in a haunted house. talk about spooky!
the bottom line is that this controller delivers a very different gaming experience in every game in which it can be used. I eventually forgave nintendo for popularizing the left-handed controller with the NES, but this is far beyond what I ever thought they'd do to make up for that...

For anyone bashing the rev controller i have a question for you: Was their every a time when you were playing a game that instead of pushing a buttons for someone fake to beat the crap out of that ogre you could actually smack the crap out of that guys face? Well this controler makes that possible! Casting that line and reeling in a giant bass. YOUR DOING IT NOT A BUTTON. Slicing that monster to pieces. YOUR DOING IT NOT A BUTTON. Hitting that perfect 560 foot homerun over the Green Monster. YOUR DOING IT NOT A BUTTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like Nintendo's trying to get kids more active so obesity rates go down.

Their is nothing at all wrong with this controller idea.. and I'm sure Nintendo will also release a standard controller or perhaps use the same plug making Gamecube controllers compatible.. (would be very smart of them to do this) What is going to make or break it is 3rd party support.. It will either make the Revolution the must-have console due to exclusive games or send Nintendo down the same path as Sega.. but lets hope not.. The ideas behind devices like the Powerglove and Virtual Boy were innovative and ahead of their time..however, they were poorly implemented. I really admire the fact that Nintendo is willing to take such risks even after failings in the past.. when a company like Sony isnt willing to do so even when they are at the top of their game..
BTW, is this controller idea ends up working out I would LOVE to see a next generation of P-P-POWER GLOVE

Goodness, this got nutty whilst I was a-learning at school! Time to get my list on!
1. Change is constant. The only things you can count on is change, death and taxes. Since most of you are a little too young to make heads or tales of the last two, I'll focus on change.
I don't think there is one member of this board that doesn't like change. Why? Because nothing is perfect, and few things are even good. There's a;ways room for improvment. The idea is to make GOOD change, and a virtual reality stick (not new, sorry to burt yer bubbles) is a poor change. It really is. You asked when was the last time I actually wanted to smack the shoit out of my enemies. I'll tell you.
Every time. And I do. I beat them soundly. Hence I'm a gamer. Not to poke fun at anyone here, but how many of you really want to get uber active while your playing a video game? It's the same reason DDR sucks. Now I'm sure this stick is gonna be a hit in japan, but they're all nutty in a fun way pver there. I'm simply saying (regardless of what I like or don't like about the system) it won't do well here. In America. Or Canada, or Australia, or Europe, or anywhere else OTHER than Japan. Period. No one in their right mind would spend THAT much money on a gimmick to get people active while they play VGs when you can just go out and, dare I say, be active! Ride a bike, play soccer. But if you don't like that stuff, why would you buy a NR? So an active person won't buy it, and niether will an inactive person.
QED
2. I don't like Sony. I kinda like MS. I like Nintendo. But the gamecube was porrly managed, and the NR is a waste of time and money. I hate sony, so I won't even go there. That leaves the xBox. It isn't a bad system and is, sadly enough, the best one out there right now. Graphics, my naive young boy, is a very important deal right now. People want some rockin' graphics. Personally, I don't. I want good plotful games. Nintendo isn't giving us any of those. They're dishing out unsupported hardware with half-assed games and no commercialization. I am no fanboy, because I am no fan of the current companies.
3. You say you want innovation> Well so do I. I'd like to have a laptop that could fit in my pocket and still play HALO. I want a car that can fly me were I'm going. I want a toothbrush that brushes for me. Nintendo has the right idea of innovating the VG industry. Unfortunately, they have only come up with pathetic ideas. If they could make the best feeling controller, the fastest processor, the highest bit-rate, they'd be rolling in it. But they have some dumb idea that people want gimmicks and will always want them. People don't, and Nintendo will suffer for their mistakes. GBP, PS, VR, N64DD, GC, NDS, GBM, and now the NR will be recognized as the steps Nintendo took to become the new Atari. Think about it. What did atari do? They made crap games and produced too much "ground breaking hardware". You think this is all a coincidence? Not a fat chance.
