I'e read numerous articles on this and other Nintendo attempts at being "revolutionary". The Rev. controller is, in my opinion, bullcrap. It's too narrow, too tall, and I believe the seperate things for each hand look way too cumbersome for everyday use.

I believe Nintendo is coming up with all these gimmicks (touch screen, wireless remote.. er I mean controller) to draw people into buying a system which is underpowered compared to its competition.

Really the only thing that's going to make people buy the Revolution is its proprietary software. If Nintendo were to license Mario and Zelda and Pokemon to Microsoft and Sony, they'd tank.

Well, they won't sway me with shiny baubles, no siree. I'm more interested in power, performance, and hackability ('cause I like that kind of stuff )

What I don't blindly follow them i'm expressing my opions ok geez I hate the GBM, the virtual boy just plain sucks and i think they've done some pretty dumb things but that doesn't stop me from liking them. Because I like metroid games this controller has intresting capabilities and face it nintendos the only way i'm getting metroid. And by the way I liked the GBM because some stupid site said it had a mp3 player.
Oh i forgot theirs a reason for the expansion port on the bottom it's for the other genre's.

Well due to the extremely large amount of hate I will set down some stuff.
As turbotax posted on page two the controller is sideways... notice the b&a buttons on the right side remind you of anything maybe the original nes controller that was the idea of having it play those hames easily. also there will be a hookup(http://cube.ign.com/) for it so it is like the cube controller who knows maybe with analog pushbuttons along with the double Z buttons. This will be a whole lot easier because half the games will only use the remote and they will be fun as hell.
(also it will not be a virtual boy incident, the only thing I thought was bad is it was only in red and after you played you couldn't see red anymore)
And the rev was never going to play all the nes games just the most popular I don't know if its been updates but this is the list I got.

I personally hate the 16 button controllers of the PS2 & Xbox and I feel this is a turn in the right direction.
so if you don't buy it, all of Japan will and nitendo will keep innovation in the world, so go play your crappy halo2 games and shut up

Guys, I am going to buy the XBox 360, and so is everyone else at my school. We are all Halo fans, and we really want to play together.

exactly how I feel ....this controller could yield some good things, but it's up to nintendo not to screw up and actually make games that use the controller well....oh, and an attachment for a normal controller would be great, too

I am definitely in the "third party vendors will go running away" camp. Even though I liked the Gamecube controller it only working *really* well with Nintendo games - everything else was like "ok, so how do we lay out the buttons?"

The Gamecube is now in solid 3rd place. 3rd party software support for it is dropping, and with this controller as the new STANDARD (as in the one that comes with it, the default they expect you to use without spending more $) I think the Revolution will have about as much 3rd party support as the Atari 7800.

Companies like EA don't care about loyalty, support for the old "gaming giants" or crap like that. They want to make money PERIOD. If they feel this controller won't translate well to the buttons of "Crappy Bond Knock-Off 62" or "Madden 2008" they'll simply not waste money on porting the game to the Revolution at all and hit the core market of 360/PS3 instead. Fanboys may not care about EA games but a large chunk of the gaming world certainly does.

The final deadly blow to all this is the fact you have to place SENSORS on either side of your TV. Ahem, MATTEL POWER GLOVE anyone? The average consumer doesn't want to mess around with placing sensors, velcroing them to the TV blah blah blah, aligning them, configuring (which it doubtless would require) They just want it to WORK.

The other final blow is have you ever noticed how people play videogames? (especially multiplayer) They're jumping around, leaning over, waving their arms. Isn't that going to screw up this thing? Oh maybe they're working that into the gameplay! (snicker snicker)

On the other side of the coin I totally agree the PS3 controller looks like holy hell. It still has over a year to change before it hits Stateside (cross fingers) But it AND the 360 controller are both standard layouts that people are familar with. They won't have to re-learn anything.

And I HOPE 360 doesn't beat PS3, mostly because it'd be one more step towards Microsoft world domination. ("Execute order Sixty-six!")

As for the "Revolution controller will be FPS heaven" statements, all I can say is FPS on 640x480 resolution is not heaven. No Hi-Def is the kiss of def.
