Popular Science

Post by Mr. Cool »

Who here gets popular science? Its a really good magazine. The best part by far is the How 2.0 section. I think it won some award in 2004 for the best magazine section of the year. Ive found out about so many great things there; benheck, neighbornodes, andhaving cellphone coverage wifi to name a few. what other magazines do you guys like?

My dad has a subscription, however I read it more then he does. There isnt any standard article that I like or look forward to. I read each issue like I first picked up popsci, everything is new and this helps me avoid disapointment when they write a boring or irritating article.

I personally like the articles by one man (cant remember name). He's written about melting silver in the microwave, making your own plasma cutter and (my favorite) liquid nitrogen ice cream (he also did this on TSS).

I get pop sci and I like the new products it shows and the how 2.0 is cool. I like when they test new products too, like the durablility because they usually stomp on it and drown it and throw it and it makes me satisfied. ha. Or the stuff readers send in like this guy who made a rocket bike, that was cool. I actually saw an article about ben in one and it showed his SNESp

I just got this month's Popular Science today. I'm surprised they took this long to put stuff about PSP hacking in the How 2.0 section.

I used to get MacAddict, back when they covered Mac OS 8.

I might get Maximum PC.

I used to get Nickelodeon magazine, but I dropped it years ago. (hey I was 8 when I got it, all right? :P)

There was one wicked cool thing in how 2.0 now that i remember it, where this guy put a jet engine in a portapotty, and he used to do drag races. It was wicked cool.

I picked up two weeks ago (maybe longer) the latest Maximium PC issues. Its really nice, they talk about parts for your computer like heat sinks for a quite system. My only thing is that they dont get into the other stuff.

For example: They made a media center and stuff. The problem I had is that they only delt with Windows Media Edition, they only mentioned the linux alternitive. They seem a little to corperate but if they got more involved with the nitch stuff it would be perfect.

I personally would get a linux magazine, but most of them that are in print are like $50 a year, I've even seen one that was almost $200 a year.

popsci is a great mag, I read a few at my friends house and they were really interesting.

All the mags I read: Computer Gaming World (Jeff Green and Robert Coffey are great), EGM (RoX beyond belief!!), CPU (nice PC case mods), and I used to read PC gamer (my subscription ran out). All except PC gamer I get free from the library :)

Pop Sci was how I found out about Ben and the whole world of making portables. Thank you, Pop Sci.
