I was a sophomore in high school on 9/11. The first I heard about the bombing was in my second period study hall, in the school library. I was sitting at the table, drawing something, when a teacher said "Watch" and pointed to the TV that was on in the room.

The entire day there were rumors, as some teachers let us watch and some didn't, it depended on the teacher.

I probably live less than 20 miles from Akron, so Flight 93 may have flown over me, for all I know.

To be honest, I wasn't all shocked, I was at the fact someone did it, but I wasn't at the fact it happened, I knew some day somebody would destroy the twin towers... and it is a real shame

Of course we can't forget past terrorist attacks though on other cities.

The media kind of forgot about it this year because of katrina and everything. Last year it was kind of a day long ceremony, but this year they didnt mention it that much.

I remeber i was in 7th grade, In Mrs Pontius' Keyboarding class and i didnt find out till oafter the next class (gym) i walked in to Language arts and i had a Sub that day and he was going "the N$#%#rs are revolting, we must take up weapons and kill them

Scary stuff that day

a year later i was doing the Morining Announcements and i did a montage about 9/11 i think i can get it off the computers if they are still there

for a year i put

"where were you when the world Stoped turning" on almost all my Music CDs that i burned that was the song on the montage

Yea. And I'm not a big crier. But all I could think about was the fear those people felt. Who horrible is that you would rather throw yourself off the building than endure it. I'll never forget the image ofthose two people holding hands as they jumped. God, that just hurt. Really hurt.

Living in Canada It was less of an impact on me, tho it was still on every channel (I live in Nova Scotia witch is just to the right of Maine so im prolly closer than some people here). I was in 9th grade and kids where running around pannicing, it was just after lunch and everyone had gone home to see what the hell was going on.

i dont think i cried but i had that tight chested panicky upset feeling and i think my hands were shaking a bit, it was really a shock that somthing like that could happen

We were in school. at about 9:30 the head principal gave the announcement over the system. It was incredible. We went home that day watching it happen over and over again. As you mentioned earlier, I find it traumatizing: Jumping down to your pitiful death rather than burning, or being crushed.

I watched a documentary about it about a month ago. There was supposivley a heat absorbing/dissapating matereal foam supposed to be on the steel. That foam was wearing thin, and in a lot of places, there was none. This caused the metal to heat up, bend, and collapse.

That to me, seems to violent to be humanly possible. I mean causing the death of thousands of innocent lives, and then threating to do more? That is not enough? Look! What has this done!!? This has caused an even bigger push to destroy terror! I still fail to realize with all of the threats and the oncoming videos why this is growing larger. This is truly a day to remember.

No, I agree. And I'm not saying it was holding it back. The fact of the lack of foam may have caused it to go slightly faster, but dont expect it to stay standing after crashing a massive object into it.

i remember someone talking about the war on terror and the quote "its near impossible to go to war with an idea (or ideal cant recall)" and that is pretty ture, they way we are going now is inneffective at best, i mean the airport stuff is rediculous, there have to be better ways to do that!
