Well, from what I have read/figured out, Linux won't boot from a FAT32 volume. You'd need to format the drive into a Linux-bootable volume format. Try finding "parted", the Partition Editor. It worked for me.
BTW Knoppix Live CD installed on HD works great! (I couldn't get D.S.L. to install onto the HD either, but that was before I learned about Linux.)

Hey, sorry about the double post, but does anyone know of a free non-demo font designer program for (preferably) Linux or (second) Windows? I think I have the old Fontographer Macintosh program somewhere, but I am not sure how to get the FPU working in Basilisk II.

The Linux shell itself is a DOS-like command line which uses commands similar to Unix. On top of that, the Xwindow system is run, which handles window and graphic routines. The versiuon I'm using, Knoppiox, uses the K Window System, which is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it.
