help with how-2: theremal adhesive

i'm making a how-2 for N64 but now i'm almost at the part about replacing the heatsink and i know you use thermal adhesive, but what kind? i need the guide to be a bit more specific than "thermal adhesive" and i searched but didn't find anything about what kind. would super glue work or does it need to be some kind of official thermal adhesive or what?

I was thinking of just using the old heatsinks over each of the chips, is that okay? Do you think I really need to buy these heatsinks from pentiums and such?

any heat sink that fits on it works. i got a new idea: maybe it'll work if you just use the metal plating with a fan, havn't tested it though but it might be a good idea

My plan is to use 2 To-220 heatsinks from Radio Shack per chip. Stick them onto the original sink pads, and use epoxy on the sides to hold in place. Should work fine.

what if i lost the metal pad things. does super glue conduct heat well?

Not really...

If you tightly epoxy the heatsink around the edges, either just press the heatsink tightly to the chip. If that's not possible, a clean penny will work well. (copper conducts heat well.)

best solution super glue on 2 edges and silicone grease on the rest

Or get some epoxy with metal in it, just don't make any mistakes with it or frankly, you're screwed. It should conduct heat and stick well, but you have to get it all right the first time.
