Intec screen for GC - usable?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Intec screen for GC - usable?

Post by Life of Brian »

Has anybody had personal experience and or success with the "Intec 5-inch Indigo LCD screen" for GameCube? I found one for $30 at GameRush/Blockbuster. Here's a pic if you need one: http://ak.buyservices.com/db_assets/lar ... 013613.jpg

I'm looking to make a killer portable Atari after my SNESp is done.

I believe there is a link to a comparison of the Intec and Interact models of the clip-on screen for the GameCube on PoD in the GC section. As I recall, the Intec one was excellent, but .4" smaller. The Interact one was bigger, but total crap. If you've found it cheaply, get it!

That was a lightning fast response! The store's right down the street from me and I saw it on my way out after renting a movie. I figured I'd research and then come back if it's a good deal.

Edit: Got it! Victory is mine! $31.50 total w/ tax! Take THAT shipping and handling expenses!

If I'm not mistaken, someone said that the guts were identical to the PSOne screen.

You are thinking of the Verge Gamecube/Xbox screens Goodie. I have one, and it is a pre-hacked PSOne screen. I dunno' about the Intec ones.

That has the same name as mine, and if it is the same screen you just bought yourself a pile of doo. It is made to run off 12V (But can run on 7.2V with internal mod), and has a low quality screen with lots of dead and dying pixels. I had 3 and none fo them work now, as they all slowly died and stopped working.
But maybe you go a different one than I did. I hope so! If not...get out the shotgun and put it out of it's misery.

You're makin' me nervous... It probably won't be for a while before I hack this screen... so let's hope you're wrong.
