thats awesome, how much did it cost to make and was it complex? if i cant find a cheap amp for my car i want to build one (preferably a 50w) but i dont think i could, too complicated etc

It's interesting you mention building a car amp b/c that's what I'm working on right now. I bought 7 Infinity speakers for my car and I need a 50w-100w amp for my sub woofer. I've been working with the LM3886 cicuit which is renouned as the best most powerful amp to work with. It can achieve up to 68watts and you can parallel 2 of them for over 100 watts!

As for the complexity-it really isn't anything compared to making portables

Building these amps is pretty simple as long as you have a schematic that WORKS. There are half a dozen schems floating around the net and it's hard to figure out which one is the right one. But if you're interested in working with the LM4752 at all then it's pretty much a walk in the park to make one. But like I said it's 22w max. The main time consumer was the wooden case for it. That took forever to make.

Hrmm, I didn't expect this much response to my amp

I've already received a couple requests for a guide so I may very well make one soon

As for the car amp, I've been having a helluva time getting it to work. I've tried a couple circuits already with no luck and I'm not getting a whole lotta help on the DIY audio forums. I'm gonna buy some new caps and another LM3886 tomorrow and hopefully I'll get a working circuit then. If anyone wants to chat with me about the amps just IM me my AIM sn is Tuneviperz14.

I'm very interested in making one too. I probably have most of the parts needed to make one. So a how-to would be excellent. It dosnt even have to be a how-to, if you just posted the amp digram that would be great.

Great job on it! I can't believe how much stuff you put in it. Even a radio!

Took a pretty long ass time but mostly b/c of the box. I've never made anything out of wood before and so I had to learn about staining and applying varnish and finishing nails and all that. It took me the summer to make it pretty much so 3 months I'd say. Here's the schem for the amp G-Force requested:

Just one question: when people have a negative voltage in schematics, what does it mean?

It's awesome though, you should make one that has detachable speakers and a small built-in mixer (for an insta-party or something!).

negative voltages are referring to the negative end off the batt pack. With some circuits (especially audio), the negative input isn't always the same as 'ground' So you call it -24v instead of ground since ithe two are kept seperate. In this schem however, they are not
