car amp

im broke, everyone knows this, that why i was wondering if it would be possible to build my own car amplifier? i know you can build small audio amps but how hard would it be to build say a 150watt amp? just a thought

here's a 50w amp. it looks kinda complex but if you have some time and the parts it shouldn't be too hard

the most expensive parts will be the transistors. Normally motorolla NPNs or mossfets are used.

wow, that is complicated, it would probably be cheaper to buy a used 100-200w amp than parts for that lol

Actually, there was an article in Make magazine about rejuvenating an old (circa 1970's) transistor amp by fixing the power input (replacing the cord with a filtered line module), replacing the electrolytic caps (output and BFC in particular, need to test them and use certain specifications), and finally checking and replacing any other parts that don't work well (pots, speaker hookups, etcâ€¦). You'd probably be better off doing something like that.

also sounds like a flea market item....i am going to one today so i'll keep an eye out but if i run into NES/ATARI games first they have priority

just go to a pawn shop and make an offer, there are so many stolen car amps at the one in my town

wow ok the flea market had a lot of cool stuff but there was one SNES game i found out of the whole place and only some 6"x9" car speakers

i didnt buy either or, instead i bought a LaserJet4 for $10 (working of course) and a P3 866 IBM NetVista for $25 and some other little 1 and 2 dollar items
