No sound on my computer

hey, I have no sound coming from my Sound card, except for a few beeps on AIM, my card shouldnt be incompatible with win 2000 couse it worked a few days ago. i get a message on the system screen saying

My computer wrote:This device is disabled because the firmware of the device did not give it the required resources. (Code 29)

i need help

Have you tried upgrading the drivers?

have you tried to re-enable the device anyways? Sometimes win2k will just spite the user and give hardware errors... If that doesnt work, unnstall the device, then reinstall it.

Is there a way to make sound from the computer come out of the socket on the CD drive's front?

No, that's only for audio CDs.

I got the Sound Card to Reapear as active in the hardware List but i still dont get sound, not even the beeps i had before

Well if you cant get a driver to working, you many have some problems with the system (OS). If you still have the install disc do a system recovery, otherwise you might have to reinstall.

Hell I have a simalar situation but at this point reinstall/recovery are not that different.

My restore disc Wipes windows clean from the HD no matter what

a windows reinstall is a little much just for a sound driver that probally had a driver that got eaten...

whats the sound card and/or the sound chip on the mobo?

or if it a pre bulit computer what computer is it? (need model numbers)
