the nesP, revisited
A while back, i was planning to make a nesP and another NES related project, but both were canceled because of my vacation plans. Now that my vacation is over, i've been working on my nesP, and i think i have the final design. It uses a hipgear screen, a mario bros./duck hunt cart, and a controller. The screen and the NOAC go in the cart, which I've added bigger walls on the inside. it's as thick as a nes controller, because I don't want to take one apart. the screen is centered, and the buttons go below it. I might add 2P support, using a controller port on the bottom, but maybe not. The cart's bottom has the cart wires coming out and going to the back, where you plug in the cart vertically, just a little taller than it already is. The batteries go in the back, where the cart blocks them from falling out. Might add a battery pak inside with charger port outside, but probably not.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

Cool! I think It will look a lot like mine, and work the same way, so Il give you some ideas.
You Will have to open the NES gamepad. You'll probably want to desolder the chip, as you're going to be soldering to those buttons. You have to rewire the controller throught the glop top, which isint really hard. (If you have the pinouts)
The screen will fit fine. You will have enough room to add some good features.(AV out, 2 player addition, headphone jack, etc..)
And for batteries, See what you can do. You probably wont be able to squash them In the NES cart, but mabye you can. Besides, you probably dont want to have access to the internal parts just to install batteries.
As for the cart slot, Im wondering where you're planning to put it. It cant really slide down the back because the Unit would have to be made thicker. Mabye some drawings would be cool. Any additional info. you need, just ask away.
