Broken SNES

Just today I acquired a used SNES for pretty cheap ($4) but had no guarantee of it working or not. So, I brought it home, hooked it up, and found out that it played games, but all colors were completely gone. The games played perfectly, just in black and white. Does anyone know what could have caused this and how I could fix this? Thanks for anything you can offer as far as assistance.

Of course, if this is the wrong forum, I apologize, but I assumed since it was SNES related it goes here and not "Forum 42".

What kind of power supply are you using?

It could be that the system is not getting enough power. If you are using the official cord and it still is in black and white then there is a problem with powr distribution inside the SNES.

Yeah, its the correct adapter, official Nintendo brand. How do I fix the power distribution, if possible?

is it possible its a PAL SNES??, did they look different from the US model 1s???(it is a model 1 right)

Yeah, its a model 1. I just checked and yes it is a NTSC system, it says USA/CAN on the label on the bottom. It also has US patent numbers, so I would assume that it means it is a US system.

You could also try s-video (the snes does do s-video, right?)

I've had that problem before with a model one snes. If I remember correctly, I believe it has to do with the a/v cables...
