i'm looking for a 4 inch screen please help can't find one

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Man, that is way too small for GC game playing!

youd probably have to get a portable tv, and use that as the screen

psone screens are really thin, if you position it right it shouldn't take up much room at all

How well can you play smash brothers on the 2.6" screen? Since it zooms out a lot and so far, i cant imagine too well.

Well, it's like this:

Hig gear = High resolution* and small screen

PSOne screen = Small resolution* (it looks about the same as the Hip gear even) but big screen.

(*resolution being relative to the screen size)

So really the Hip Gear is just as good as the PSone screen for playing games. It's just more compact. And trust me about this, I own both. Text on the PSone screen is just as readable as on the Hip Gear.

I would agree with G force 100%. The Psone screen Is just bigger, and Thats good for portables that have big mobos in them. The NOAC portables are usually meant to be Small, so they use small screens. I definatley wouldnt want to play it on a hip gear, just because it would be a small screen on a big portable.

I believe Ben mentions a 4" Casio TV in his book (used in the VCSp Gold) that will work well. Try that for your portable, or just use the PSone screen, it can become smaller if you LED mod it and chop off the top. I've heard the Casio one is expensive, so the PSone screen's probably your best bet. Besides, you're not gonna get a GCp small enough to make a PSone screen too big anyway.

Then you should go for the PSone screen, no matter how small you made the GameCube, it'll still be your best bet. If worst comes to worst, you can buy a screen module from here, but they're DAMN expensive, over 3-4 times what the PSone screen costs. There's a 4" one with a relocatable board (the ribbon cable is fairly long) and a nice 5" one that has 2 smaller boards but they're both over $200. Heck, the 2.5" one is $120! The good news is that most of them have a prebuilt LED backlight option so you don't have to deal with modding it yourself or it looking bad.

Yeah, we all wish screens weren't so expensive, but that's the way it has to be. Unless you're still going for the Casio EV-3500…

Hey usbcd36, do you think the 2.5 inch would be able to replace a hip gear screen (if its got a broken orange cable). If they do sell the screen only (no board) it could repair a hip gear.
