I don't heart Nintendo

Now thats got me thinking couldnt you play GameBoy Color games on the N64 and if the DS is really a handheld N64 why cant they play the GBC games? Also I dont know what the Super Boy did for the GBO games other then move the pins out so the SNES could connect to them but would something like that be possible for the new GBM?bicostp wrote:The arm7 is the GBA processor, I believe the previous game boy systems ran off a modified z80.
You would've thought they'd put a software emulator into the GBM's firmware or something...
There is so much potiental for useless accessories and Nintendo is probably pass it up.

I am a geek.
No. You couldn't play Gameboy Color games on the N64. There was the Gameboy Tower in Pokemon Stadium/2, but that was it.
Second, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD THE D IS NOT A PORTABLE N64. It has better graphics, a touch screen, DUAL SCREENS, a microphone used for more than 1 game, non-standard games (Band Brothers, Meteos, Kirby Canvas Curse, Nintendogs, Wario Ware: Touched!..). The only reason you'd think it's a portable N64 is because of ONE GAME, Super Mario 64, which was one of the best Mario games, was ported. The GBA has lots of Super Nintendo ports, but when was it a portbale N64?
On that same suject, the DS cannot emulate N64 games. Super Mario 64 DS was remade using the old source code as a base. And SM64DS isn't even a port- it's a remake. It has 3 new characters, improved graphics, map on the bottom, 30 new stars, the plot twist at the start and the mini games.

It's a port. They just added some extra junk to draw people in. I've played it, the graphics are NOT imporved. They're no better than SM64 with the expansion pak.Conn wrote:No. You couldn't play Gameboy Color games on the N64. There was the Gameboy Tower in Pokemon Stadium/2, but that was it.

And here's how I see it:
The GBA is to the SNES as the DS is to the N64.
Touch screen, dual screens, microphone, etc... are just sales gimmicks to me. WHO NEEDS a touch screen for super mario? WHO NEEDS to have a microphone (Which is onbly used by, what, WarioWare and NintenDogs?) ?! They've just overcomplicated a decent system. Now if they had just released a regular Game Boy with n64 graphics and called it the Game Boy Elite (or something along those lines) people would have bought it just so they copuld play flashier, fancier games.
But not me. *hugs GBC*

If they add more stuff in, it's not a port. Now Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island IS a port, even though they added 6 super special levels.
The way I see it, a port is the game on another system, maybe with some new graphics or a few new levels, weapons, etc.
A remake is the game, usually on another system, with lots of new levels, possibly a few alterations to the plot, and improved graphics. Other goodies like new playable characters and stuff.

The microphone HAS been used. Wario Ware: Touched!, Yoshi Touch n Go, Nintendogs, Feel The Magic XY/XX..

Personally I think the Gameboy Micro was a good idea just not pulled off as well as it could've been. The faceplates are a cool addition, and it could make it easier to mod. The screen is, although small, very bright and it's adjustible.
But the downfall is the ports. Even if I don't play GBC games much, there's always people who do, and I think it should've been included just for bragging rights. And apperantly the link cable port is gone too- first the headphone jack, now this? I don't use it very much, but it sould still be included!
It's already tiny- a few CMs of thickness will not kill sales if you added in all the ports.
And the PRICE. $100 is too much- I say it should've been $80 at most.
Oh well I know I'll eventually cave and buy one

1. There is a headphone jack on the GBM.
2. There is a NEW link port on the GBM.
3. The faceplates are a gimmick that Nintendo is using to fool people into thinking this product is stylish and individualistic. Aparently their plan is working...
Personnally, I don't plan on buying anymore new Nintendo products. At all. I'm tired of their lack of communication to the consumer. Their blatent disregard for what's logical. Their blindness to past and present mistakes. For all I care, they can go belly up...
