Connecting to the chip?

Post by atkafighter »

Hi,
I know that it is possible to only use the psone board connected to the analog sticks (by soldering to the leads on the chip on the small board), but I was wondering if you could use the solder points from the ribbon cable (because I'm not good enough to solder to the pins of the SMT chip). If so, does anyone know the pinout for that chip (I know that someone has done that on the N64 controller, but have not seen anything like that for the psone controller). I bought a multimeter today (analog), but I really don't know how to use it or else I would do the pinout myself (and post my results for everyone, or course).
Thanks

Sorry to drag this up again but I don't think people have had a chance to see it since the recent attack on our beloved forum.
Anyway I thought I would put up a diagram of what I was talking about in case I made no sense.

Anyone know if this would work? Space is an issue and I cannot drop the analog sticks from this project. I believe that I traced the pins from the ribbon correctly I will post that later if anyone needs it.
Thanks
