Hey i was watching the weather channel with my moms boyfriend and they showed a Projected Hurricane katrina devestation path

Im in the path at the top.

Yeah I don't think it'll affect me too much. As for school I think I'll like this week I have shop.

Yeah they evacuated the entire city of New Orleans, partially because it's below sea level. If they lose electricity, they might lose the pumps that keep the water from flooding the city.

All I'm going to get out of it is rain, and boy do I need it around here. I think we've had several inches less than the average amount of rainfall this summer.

This iswhy I don't live in Florida.

Few things:
1. If you are in those top two sections...don't worry. Worst that'll happen is a T-Storm.

2. NOT all of New Orleans is evacutated. One too many people are planning to "ride it out". Let me tell you something, they have a very, VERY low chance of surviving. THis female of the dog species is a monster.

3. How much of a monster? Meteorologists are watching the satelite images as the see her creating tornados on her leading edge and throwing them in front of her. THAT'S how bad it is. New Orleans has a very high chance of someing out of this as a wetland. They will most likely be totaled.

1. Me = Massachusetts.

I think the last major stoirm we had was Gloria. (1985 I think, because my folks were adding the living room to the house, and it survived perfectly. It was just framework at the time, you see.)

2. Those people are fools. Sure the Superdome is safe(er), but people who choose to stay in their homes are figging morons. (note I said "Fig", as in "Fig Newton". mmmmm...)

3. New Orleans will probably suffer total devestation. The entire freakin city is at least 40 feet (4 stories) BELOW sea level! It's surrounded by lakes and rivers, and of course the ocean. Now, the huge electric pumps work to pump water out when it's dry, so how will the city survive without those pumps? It won't. New Orleans will resemble Venice, Italy for a few weeks, if they're lucky.

If your in the the way of the hurricane inland, dont worry. Once those kind of storms hit land they lose strangth quickly. Like in a few hours maybe less it will become a tropical storm.

And if that storm does some how make it up to Michigan I wonder if I'll experiance any rain fall here. Doubt it though.

god thats dumbmost everything way south will get damaged, people just south of the virgina's and up should only get some rain. and even if they do get damage it'll be from something that was post hurricane (i.e. floods, t storms) not the major storm...

its a pet peeve when some one blow something out of proportion, like they think the thing will keep on spinning up at full force to canada on the ground over mountians, high and low pressure systsms and other weather enomlies

some friends living in the new orleans area just managed to get a hold of me. They'd evacuated and spent the last couple days 'camping' under an overpass. Completely clueless as to what was going on, so I filled them in with the best of cable news coverage.

I was set to move to New Orleans in December, but all bets are off now. The base I was going to work at is certainly under water. ...and I don't even want to know what new home prices are going to be down there...
