what kind of resistor should i use for 3 leds

Most 3.6v ones will work fine if wired in parallel, then connected to a 10-ohm resistor. Verify this first though, those buggers are expensive.

well im using 3 of the ones ben reccomends at 5 volts from a psone screen and last time i did it wqith a 10 ohm they fried

I normally use 2 10 ohms in series.

Wait, did you wire the ones Ben recommends in parallel or series to each other? If you wired them in parallel, they should work just fineâ€¦

i did it the way in bens book idunno wat went wrong

so gannon you use 2 10ohm on 3 leds or 2

I use 2 10 ohm resistors in series (I guess I could just use a 20 ohm, but I have a bunch of 10s and no 20s) with 3 5000mcd LEDs that're in parallel

for mine i used i think a 22ohm or 27ohm(pretty sure it was 22) and they've been working fine ever since june.

speaking of resistors, my psone screen's very picky about voltage and doesn't work right unless it's around 8.4v. i have a 9v AC adapter. is there a resistor that can bring it down to 8.4v?

Well, you could use a resistor to bring it down, but it would probably fry the resistor (most of them are rated for 1/2 watt, and 9v @ about 350mA is equal to about 3.5 watts). Your best bet is an LM317T regulator from RadioShack. Use one of the diagrams here to bring it to 8.5v and you'll be on your way!
