Cheap stuff I made....

I found an old PDA as I was packing up some stuff. It was one that you would prolly get for 5$ and under. It has a touch screen, clock, alarm, calc.,Calendar, and It used to run off a button battery. The data is only stored when the power is on, but that thing would stay on practically forever.

I opened it up, found a small circuit with glop top, and a decent sized screen.
I was going to put it in a NES controller and make a belt, but the text would be sideways and I would have to look down to see what time/date it was...

So I opened up an Atari game, cut out the plastic on the inside, and put the guts in. I installed my own springs and metal pieces for batteries, 2 AAAs.
Then I cut a hole for the screen, and it was done! All I had to do was snap the case together and it was done. I really didnt like it when I found it, but now I do.
Pictures of it later, my bro is out with the camera.....

EDit... I changed the name because I didnt feel like making multiple topics.

I also made my own "Helping hands"
I found an alligator clip that was not working. I was going to put on a New wire, when I realized that those clips had been on the helping hands things that holds components as you solder. I Grabbed a metal hanger out of the closet, and snipped off the top right before the twisty part. Then I bent the hanger in half (almost all the way) and it rested on the desk nicely. Then I soldered the alligator clip ends to the metal, superglued it, hot glued it, and electrical taped it. The end result was the very cheap bendable "hands" that really help when you solder.

wow, Nice, I had one of those $5 Palm Pilots but my brother broke it, i may look at some dollar stores or some Thrift Stores and see if tehy have some, Im just a lil Embarrassed to go to a Thrift store, yet they do have good stuff

I got mine at tops the grocerey store... Right next to the batteries, lightbulbs, and disposeable cameras.

There's a really big Salvation Army store in Woonsocket. I think it's 4 floors of an old mill building. The place is freakin huge!

I went to one that was about the size of a gas station.
And there were like 12 people working there. it was a little wierd.

Some of the best finds...
10$ super nintendo in box with plastic wrapping, styrofoam and all papers.
10$ A bin of a Vader atari, about 15 games, most of them I dint have, 3 joysticks(though the needed repair, I had working ones), and a set of paddles.
