Yep. I remember the commercials for the NES/Gameboy release.

Basically it boiled down to someone saying "Tetris 2!" then something explodes. Then the announcer says "It's tetris 2. This time there's bombs in it." I have it on an old tape. Maybe someday I'll make a video of it and send it to Retrojunk.com . I've also got commercials for the Super GameBoy and Kirby's Pinball Land.

Good times, good times. :)

I have most of these mainstream games already. I'm hoping to get something a little more off the beaten path, even if they're not quite up to the level of the 'A' list.

aside from zelda, I haven't been able to find good RPGs (final fantasies are awful on gbo). And strategy games for me begin and end with battleship--there must be more, wargaming perhaps?

game and watch 1 & 2 have grabbed me these days. I think the first one is the best. Manhole rocks

One original Gameboy game I really loved (and bought recently at Gamestop) was Gargoyle's Quest.

Apparently you're the Gargoyle from Ghost N Goblins and you go on this quest. It has lots of RPG elements (leveling up and stuff) but is basically a side scroller. Then you walk around the "world" from overhead.

I think it came out around 1990, an early title. Check it out, it's worth it and a well done game (Capcom)

well, I seem to have found some off-the-beaten-path GBO titles. Still looking for others. (Dragonwarrior GBO titles are AWOL unless the GBC version has a GBO mode, and the Gargoyle's Quest search is ongoing)

Here's what I found last week:

Great Greed, Namco RPG. Thin plot, very similar to DragonWarrior but extremely funny. I don't think Namco intended it to be funny, but that's not the point. Forget the decent graphics and somewhat interesting battle system, the names of the characters and places are alone enough to get me through this game. I must help 'Microwave' save 'Candy Greene' from the agents of 'Bio-Haz'!

Tetris Attack. Why is this the best tetris game I've played since I kicked my 1992 addiction to the original virtual crack? easy--the game has *NOTHING* to do with tetris. (other decent puzzlers are pipedream and kirby star stacker)

V-rally is also a very smooth sprite-racer. In some ways more fun then the polygon V-rally 3 on GBA. My emulation messes up the borders of the main car sprite slightly, but it's fine.

Anybody ever play Burai Fighter Deluxe ? It's like the "Contra" of Game Boy. One hit death, lots of guns, stupid enemys. But in this you have a jetpack-thing that annoyingly forces you to move to the right! :D You gotta play it sometime.

I've always wondered, am I the only one who thought that Metroid for GBO sucked? I absolutely hate that game.

Metroid 2 on GB was hard, but I enjoyed it very much!!!

Dragon Warrio 1 & 2 are great as well as Dragon Warrior Monsters (the first one only IMO).

that metroid never grabbed me. Something about the short view distance, and the 'beat a metroid, now repeat' gameplay...

burai fighter looks pretty cool, they don't make many games with that perspective anymore. There were a couple contra games too, but I don't remember them being especially good. (I still need to get them anyway)

but anyway, I just found out that mario picross is about to steal my life. I lost days of time to the very similar 'picture puzzle' on NGPC. Games that addictive should NOT be put on systems that you can carry with you... http://www.classicgaming.com/tmk/mpicross.shtml
