Replacing Alarm in Emerson Alarm Clock

Post by S q u e e ! »

I've always wanted to use the "Wake Up" outro by Rage Against the Machine as my alarm on my alarm clock, so I decided to when I got this alarm clock for $3.50. Trying to think of a way I could do this, and I will be taking the beast apart soon. Any ideas?

Do you remember those record a message picture frames? I guess you could hook up one of those to the alarm so instead of the buzzing you would get your recording. But sorry I have no idea if this would work, or how to do it.

Well there's a few ways you can do this: The easy way, the expensive way, and the smaller, more complicated way.

^Here's a page about hacking the singing fish plaque. I know it's not an alarm clock, but it works in sort of the same way; a signal is sent to make a sound start. It's built around a sound recorder flash memory chip, and will hold a few seconds' worth of music.

The expensive way: Buy a CD-player alarm clock that plays the CD as the alarm.

The easier way: Rig up this board to the clock. (I'm guessing connect the "play" button to the trace that starts the alarm cycle?)

EDIT: Whoops! Sorry about the huge URL.

But the speaker in the alarm clock allways gets power, and that frame will always be playing. Solution? I don't know.
