watercooling

I ahve a friend who wants to water cool his pc, he has an old dell, pentium 2 and that's all he knows, I can't find any coolers that work with pentium 2's so I was wondering if you guys could find them

Why would you want to WC? Comercial PCs dont allow overclocking, the BIOS has the Clock speed locked. Or, atleast that can be said for my Dimension 2350 with a 1.6ghz celeron.

he's not overclocking he just wants to see if he can watercool his pc

a better motherboard and chip (than a PII) is FAR cheaper than a watercooling system.

how's his homeowner's insurance? you could always try 'cooling it off' in the bathtub and claiming it as waterdamaged...

edit: if he's not overclocking I can't think of a halfway decent reason to watercool it...

to see if he can do it to his real one that he's gonna overclock so if he fry's that one it doesn't matter

you can watercool anything. Whats there to see? Thats like seeing if you can fall down a flight of stairs. Getting a CPU water cooling block for the PII class will be a little hard, but im sure you can fabricate one. Try getting one for an old athlon or duron class. They use the same heatsinks as the P2, and AMD is known for being overclockable.

And you can overclock most of the P2s in the bios menu. Just look arround the menus and set the BIOS up so you can manually set up the clock speeds, voltages ect... some machines cant though. You could look for a jumper on the motherboard that will let you set the BIOS settings, or perhaps it has manual jumpers for the settings.

i thought about a joke n64 with water cooling. I was just going to get some cheap ass pump, a bottle of water brass pipe and a heat sink and do a vary crappy job... tobad i dont have a heat sink laying around any more...

Seriously................. dont do it its not worth it on a PII I dont even need it on my AMD athalon XP Unless your doing a homebrew, which if you dont know what your doing I wouldnt suggest trying to do a homebrew. And if you are buying one I would say it was a waste of money on that comp.

I actually ran an AMD K6 without a fan (the fan power plug loosened off when I was installing a doomed Belkin wireless card). It worked fine, and when I noticed I didn't hear the racket it usually makes, I looked at the fan, and it wasn't spinning, so I paniked, turned off the computer, and plugged the fan back in.
