CS problems.

Hi guys, I bought the Half Life Platinum Pack 2, installed and updated everything AS SAID on the manual. But when I play CS or Half Life Multiplayer, it says CANNOT CONNECT, in big scary yellow letters.

I checked Troubleshooting, the site, even altering the Registry. Nothing. Still cannot connect. I emailed Valve and said I need Steam. Honestly I don't want to pay. Anyone know how to connect and/or fix this problem. In a free and *bye bye problem* way. I also closed my firewall :wink:
