blown screen?

i have a ps1 screen and when i put power to it nothing happens. any ideas? How do i jump a fuse?

In the front of the top board where the 7.5v input is there are two resistor fuses named PS1 and PS2 (no pun intended). To jump the fuse simply solder your power line to the other side or to the left input pin on one of the 7805s.

oh whoops i desolder the fuse took it off and put some solder there, is that ok? do i need to do the same to ps2?

well it goes on now, but i have no light, i heard u can jump the backlight fuses too, where are they?

Ive gotten some really awsome ways of doing LED backlighting that really looks as good, better than the original backlight, but im not telling how i did it... yet

.. i dont know what some of the parts i used for diffusing the light is called, or where to get it. So until i find out, i really cant tell you how to do it. One of the diffusers i used is a plastic sheet that has side-emiting fiber optic strands weaved through it. I have no cheap or easy way of making a replacement. I used that with a mylar backing, and 3700 MCD white LEDs. Another mod uses a mylar line'd light box with side emiting fiber optic strands going up and down the box with a plastic diffuser.

I dont have brightness control though, im looking into how to get it working.

I dont want to sound like im being a complete @sshole, but I have noticed that a lot of the people here build and mod stuff thats really easy to get a hold of. Most of my projects would reqire a lot of skill with percision tools, and costly parts. Im not tryin' to say that noone here could do the crap I do, im just saying its too expensive and complex to be worth while to almost everyone here.

If anyone knows WTF the plastic thing with side-emiting fiber optics is called, and where to get it (mine was scrapped from i dont know what) i could write up a tutorial.. (do you really need one!?)

And if you must know, i got the fiber optics from a left over job i did installing fiber optics into someones celing for a "twinkling starfeild" effect they wanted. There was a few unuseable 1/16th inch think strands that couldnt be used, so i kept them.

EDIT: Fiber optics makes the screen look a little "foggy" and its hard to see in strong light, unuseable in daylight...

so if i can see the screen actually turn on, then theres nothing wrong except the backlight right? and if i do the mod everything should be ok right?

Well you could've messed up the wires going to the cathode tube (like me, I shut them in the case, so they got broken), but if you plug it in and you can see faint images on the screen, it's fine, do the LED mod and you'll have a working screen again. The best place for LEDs is http://www.ledautomotive.com, they have 30Â° 7,000mcd 3mm LEDs that come from the 'States.
