If I get the core, I wonder if I can use my old XBox Live account, and use my old Xbox Live Communicator and Halo 2 headset?

If you have Xbox Live, it will transfer over to the Xbox 360. I am not sure about the headset though.

Good. I don't want to get another headset. I hope Microsoft makes the right decisions. Do the old controllers work?

I still think PS3 is gonna wipe up the floor with this thing. Especially since people won't get the expensive Xbox 360, so the model everyone has won't have the hard drive thing over the PS3 (which is rumored to not have one)

Is the hard drive really THAT great? Seems like a pirate tool more than anything.

Also man you buy all that stuff it'd be the cost of the system! $99 for a 20 gig hard drive??? What is this, 1999 prices?

But most people are looking for the next and best system. Ive been sticking with nintendo since the beginning, and am only planning to buy a revolution. Not having a job effects income. I cant buy a revolution and any other system, nor am i hoping to.

Besides, Im not playing on a boomerang or a white Xbox S controller...

exactly. Most people beleive it MUST have all of the buttons from previous systems, because of backwards compatibility. But dont forget, it accepts gamecube controllers! And gamecube controllers already have all the buttons needed. SO we'll have to wait and see.

No I bet they'll figure out how to get people to play it telekenetically, thus making people even more inactive and they'll want to download more and more games to play.

Oh and I think the 360 power cord will come with the $199 Service Pack they'll wind up releasing in '07.

But seriously, that much for a 20 GB hard drive is absurd. Someone's definitely going to try cracking the 360's disk format so they can use a nice huge 160GB HD for all their games and such.

I read on the gamespot forums that MS is going to produce 85% premium 360s and 15% core 360s at launch, so people won't really have that much of a choice at launch time.

The hard drive in the first xbox was used for disk cache and saving games and downloadable content. MS told game developers not to design their games to depend on the hard disk, but most will use it for disk caching and such. Games will work just fine on the Core version, but the load times will be slightly longer. This really shouldn't be a problem though because the 360 has a massive about of RAM, 512 MB. Ben, you are right about the Hard Drive, $99 is way too much for a 20GB drive.

I think MS has overpriced their accessories intentionally for 2 reasons. One, they want consumers to buy the more expensive version, and 2 they want to lower the price once the PS3 comes out. I think this is a pretty good strategy from a business standpoint. Plus 2 SKUs means double the shelf space at retail stores.

I am getting the Xbox 360 Premium edition at launch because it is a great value when you consider that you are getting a great machine and lots of accessories. Microsoft was good to me last gen, and I trust that they will this gen too, although I will probably also get the PS3 as well.
