use XINE under linux. It plays almost every format of audio and video, including WMV, XvID, Divix, DVD, MP3, MPEG and Quicktime.

i suggest this to any one...

if you cant figure out your windows computer, dont try linux.

the ATI card looks to be a 7xxx series but the Nvidia card is no doubt a GeForce 2

i am trying to figure out the specs here, i cant think of ANY AMD 1.3Ghz processor that has a 166FSB. if the ram is indeed running at 333 the chipset is doing the work or the system is configured WAY incorrectly.

i am sure a lot of other guys here know when some times you bulid a system and you first stick the processor in and it gives a fail safe (kinda) cpu speed, it doesent always reset to what its supposed to be so some times (i have seen this a lot) people leave the processor underclocked and some times under volted which would cause your lock ups....

heres a few things that would be WAY better to help us.
#1 get the mother board Maker and Model #
#2 look at the dos looking stuff when your computer firsts boot. chack if it says "Athlon XP xxxx+" or "Duron" or what ever. if you dont know where to look download this
