IT WORKS!!! IT WORKS!!! IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'M JUMPPING for joy now!!! Thank you EVERYONE that listened to my female of the dog species-y-ness.

My connections were correct, however, a work buddy went over all my connections and added more solder onto it. After that, it turned on like nothing!!!

Now comes the fun part...getting the audio. I know you said the right most chip to connect there...am I connect the speakers directly to it? or am I going somewhere else first? I wanna use the sony speakers on the lcd.

Here: I made entire wiring diagram for anyone else who wants it (it includes wiring of audio and the headphones jack!).

Edit: corrected wiring of headphones jack, numbers refer to ASCII diagram on page 10

Edit2: forgot to add Edit:

so the headphone jacks need to be connected together before the sound will work? If so, I will be connecting pins 5 (hpleft), 6(hpswitch), and 7(hpright) on slot 2? If no, please explain what you mean...i'm really not understanding this too much.

When you want the original speakers to work, the headphone jack should connect those together (when there is no plug). The jack should have an SPDT or DPDT switch, check with your multimeter to see which side is NO and which side is NC. Connect the 2 wires to the NC switch, one to the middle lead, one to the outer. Then connect the wires for the headphone jack to the leads for the actual jack. If you use the jack from the PSone screen, it will be easy to do.

Okay, what if I did this:

Purchase a headphone plug (female), connect that to the screen (via pins 5-7 on slot 2) and then plug in headphones in that...will that work? I'm just thinking hypathetically right now...my stuff is at work so I cannot do anything right now.

EDIT::: I'm reading your last post usb and I see that pretty much what you told me to do is what I posted?

EDIT2:::

I have a basic slider switch (dpdt) and its only 2 choices...on and off. Is there a switch that has 3 choices (preferably sliders)? If so, where can I get it from and whats the name of it?

Why would you want a switch with a 3rd position? If you want it to be for charging (charge, off, on), you don't need a center-off position, you can have the off position act as a charge position, especially since you won't have any confusions as to how to wire it up. Here's what you do:

Wire the 2 battery leads to the 2 center poles. Wire a charge jack to the poles on one side (it doesn't matter unless you accidentally wire the + to - or something) and wire the + and - to your system to the other two.

Code: Select all

123
•••
•••
456
1. Positive from game system/LCD
2. Positive from battery
3. Positive from charge jack
4. Negative from game system/LCD
5. Negative from battery
6. Negative from charge jack

It's not for charging although that diagram WILL be handy!!! =)

I wanted it for a DC Plug making the portable...un-portable. Know what I mean jellybean??? As for charging it with what you said...I have a charger that came with my battery, however, I don't know where the positive and negative is on my charger...any ideas?

Ah, if you want a DC jack, you should use the one from Ben's book, or get one that you can drill a hole into and stick a DPDT momentary switch inside it to change the current over from the battery to the wall adapter. Ben's way is: use the RadioShack #274-246 and wire it like so:

Code: Select all

RadioShack part #274-246
 _______
|1 3|
| 4 |
|2 |
|_ X _|
 _| |_
 |_____|

DPDT switch
 ____
|1 8|
|6 2|
|7__X|

Charge Jack
  ______
7|+ |
4|- |
 |______|

Batteries

6 +
4 -

Game System

8 +
4 -
Just connect corresponding numbers, X means the pin is there, but not used. The symbol for the jack is tip positive, shaft negative. It is a 1/8" phono plug jack, so they won't have much trouble finding what you need at RadioShack, but you should use an adapter that provides 800mA at 7.5v. If you already have one, get the correct adaptaplug for it.

Oh, if you're going to do that, you need to wire it slightly differently, you need to add a DPDT switch to the whole deal between the batteries and AC adapter.

Alrighty...another fine day!!!

Here is a pic of the headphone jack that comes on the psone.

Image

I couldn't get a clearer shot than this so I just "enhanced" the photo. The green is the headphone plug, and the black is the av. How do I connect this onto the board so I can use headphones as my speakers?
