how to transform a psone lcd in a portable tv?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

mabye if you had money, buy a portable TV with an AV out function(if thats even real) and a PSone screen, and connect that to the PSone LCD input. run it on batteries and put it in a car.

I think you could use a very old (analog) cable box as a tuner for it, but that would be big. Get one that has AV outputs and you will have TV.

I've never heard of a cable box that puts out composite and especially not a pocket TV with AV outputs...

Your best bet would probably be a VCR motherboard, unless you can figure out how to reverse-engineer one of those RF modulator things they sell at circuit city.

probably not but see if you could trim it down by cutting off the tape player part and relocating the buttons if it's possible

Every cable box i have seen has AV and Coax out. bicostp has a damn good idea about the VCR motherboard and an antenna. Im sure with some time and brains you can strip all the VCR crap off and leave in just the tuner. You could also do something completely insane... Get a small sattelite dish, or one of those really expensive flat pannel omnitirectional ones, a sattelite box, and a PSU good enough to power it.... Ive helped people do this for their cars and RVs.

That would be amazing, to have satellite TV in your car. Still, you have to pay for service and the reception would be bad since you would be moving.

But why have the 1 channel a day worth watching at OK quality? Hook up A DVD player or something!

yeah but have you seen a pocket tv? those only get 1/2 channels with good reception, and most of the shows on it arent very good. I see your point about DVDs, and how tv would be better, but you might want to find a way to get something good on that screen.

There are omnidirectional sattelite antennas that you can just lay flat and get a signal from any direction. They are just VERY expensive. And if you think about it, its not a half bad to have sattelite. As long as you have a box, access card, and antenna, you have service.

I actually want to get a FireWire capture device, and a small sat-box with omni antenna, and use my 17" widescreen laptop as the display.
