How big do you think that is? It's hard to make out the size. We'll see what happens...I think it's a least worth a shot. Hell...maybe you guys can learn something from my mistakes!
I dont want to rain on you parade, but how are you gonna get rid of the reflective coating on the back of the lcd? Unless you get that off the light wont shine through the glass. I know on some cheaper lcds its just a sticker th at comes off but last time I took apart my gbc it looked pained on.
It looks to be about 1 cubic inch, try to find a thinner transformer that has the same ratio (primary:secondary coils) and output. I know the PSone cathode tube one was small enough to fit in a GBC, you can probably find a good replacement.

its definitly a sticker i think cennar and a bunch of other people said so and cennar knows his gameboy related sh!t if ya know what i mean
I took the LCD screen apart already. There's no sticker or anything. What there was, was the foam backing and the metal cage around the screen. Took both off and you can shine a light right through it.
As for the inverter -- I'll have to look into getting a hold of a smaller one.
This project is getting more and more difficult to do and I haven't even started yet!
I don't want to get too excited yet since the website doesn't specify any specs for it. I'm waiting to hear back from them on the input/output voltage and dimensions (although it looks small enough).
The problem is it might not carry enough amperage, you should see if one from a PSone screen puts out the right voltage (switch to AC, check if your multimeter can handle a 1,000v source and test it). Then check the original transformer. If it puts out the same voltage, hook it up.
Well, since it is not possible to backlight a gameboy, why not try to frontlight it using the same components in the Afterburner Lighting kit. From what I have read the installation didn't require an inverter.

No offense, big guy, but Sega made a Nomad, but a few people have made there own GenP...it's called modding for the sake of modding, and it's the reason we're all here...

Yeah, but the GB Light 1) wasn't released outside Japan 2) has a crappy light.
