Did you get the Virus?

As you all know, there's a bit of malicious code on the navigartion bar on the homepage.

So I'm starting this poll to see how many people got the virus vs. how many people didn't.

Please vote yes or no ONLY IF YOU HAVE WINDOWS! If you have Linux/FreeBSD/Mac OS, please vote "I have Linux/Unix/Mac."

If you do have Windows, please post here which version you have, the name of your antivirus program, and what browser you typically use. Thgat way we can see a pattern in system versions and browsers. We'll try to use this information to find a pattern and eventually a fix for the problem.

AVG Antivirus is a good, free antivirus program.

I didn't get it, I'm running Windows 2000, Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition, and Firefox.

Oh and I have scanned my computer 4 times with brand-new definitions, and NAV hasn't found anything.

Might I ask what the symptoms of this virus are? As long as I dont lose my music, I dont care.

Not necessarily, Norton said it was a virus that pulled in other viruses, so you might not notice anything at first.

1. My computer ran EXTREMELY slow.
2. My background was changed
3. Antivirus warnings sent from the virus
4. "programs" downloaded that re-download after you delete them
5. A warning that the virus gives again, saying your computer may not turn on next time.( i was able to reinstall windows easilly.)
6. yet another warning that it may be editing the contents of the "my documents" folder.( keep in mind that I didnt care, seing as How I had just installed windows the day before..)
7. unable to right click.
8. unable to do many functions : start menu, Ctrl + alt + del., alt+ f4, opening "my computer"( though I did through internet explorer) and other random things.

during the attack i had macafee but now i have norton
i only use firefox

win xp home norton and no i did not get it and i only got the warnings using IE.

Yes, 3 times over
McAffe detected the Exploit-MhtRedir.gen and deleted it every time.
Once with IE (I was testing) and twice with FireFox.

Well my laptop is running Windows XP Pro SP2 with Norton AntiVirus. I didnt get any messages about stuff downloading and about my computer not starting up. But like I said in another thread this is new anything thats on it can be reinstalled without big issues.

I'll likely be back one in a day or two using my Desktop, setup simalar to the laptop. I'd use a Linux distro but as of right now SuSE is pissing me off and there is too much (like flash media) missing from PCBSD for me to continiue using it.
