Broken gamecube, probably Lens broken...

Post by bioniclebert »

I have a gamecube sitting here some guy gave to me, he said it was broken. I fire it up, and then common sense struck. Oh yeah it dosent work!
I took out the Nintendo logo thing on the top, so I could see the disc when it was closed.
The normal gamecube has the lens move, the game spins, stops for like 1/2 a second, and then it does the beep and rotates again faster.

The broken gamecube: the lens moves, sometimes disc spins but other times dosent. It has never loaded up a game, but the gamecube functions normally. All menus are accessible, and it powers up fine.

I was thinking this would be a lens problem. I was wondering if any one of you guys that got a broken gamecube know how to fix it?

first try wiping the laser with a Q-tip and some rubbing alchohol thats how i fixed a broken one i bought

if that doesnt work there is a pot on the bottom of the board the laser is attached to (the pot is a very tiny screw with a black square around it) turn it very little to the left and see if it will work
when life gives you lemons make flux

not if you did it right.
people in retail aren't paid enough to care.

I'm on my third divx camcorder. they tend to take damage too easily...(whenever the R/C car flips ) . you can even keep the accessories...I do.

You can get one of those USB thumb cameras, I've heard they work pretty well for small stuff. They are cheap too.

[whine]but the divx camcorder does svhs quality in a handily compressed format[/whine]
you need to see those locker rooms in full 640x480--you'll never go back to webcam again.
