mac mini portable

could this be done. it would suck to have it look like a laptop. i was wondering if it could have thumb keyboard and maybe a nomad screen(since i think they are rgb). i dunno, i was just thinkin. what kinda juice would it take?

Oh, a Mac Mini portable, I thought about that, but there is no equivalent of Power Strip for Macs. It would be doable thoughâ€¦

Its kind of hard to escape the facts about a computer. Personally if I got my hands on a Mac Mini I'd put it in an old Compact Mac case.

Back to your idea. I have seen whats called a half keyboard on the internet. Its operated by one hand with the space bar being tapped to change over to the other side. The only problems are these; I dont remember the site address (google.com thats how I found it), and to my memory the price was around $50. I almost forget to add that it uses the left hand so you can keep your right on the mouse, suppositly this makes for a more efficent time working.

If I got a Mac Mini, I'd put it in an NES case and add TV hookups, and use it as an emulator console/DVR.

Hey, the CD player in my bedroom is a PSone!

on an old screensavers episode there was something like that. you could store roms on floppys and the dos emulator started on start up. it wasn't used for anything but that though.

that and the frogpad and cool grip things and a hacked up laptop touch mouse pad(what are those called) you'd have halo portableized
(halo was ported to mac, i think)

The game gear screen is not worth using on anything. The screen sucks, and you need a TV tuner for it, which would cost as much as a pocket tv, maybe even a PSOne screen.

Only problem with thatâ€¦yeah see PSone screens have RGB, but it is 15 kHz and the Mac Mini outputs RGB at 30 kHz, and on top of that, it doesn't output Csync, you have to convert it. I thought of the idea a LONG time ago and that was the reason I never started blabbing about it. It's still a good idea, so if you find a Power Strip equivalent for the Mac, I'd love to see it. I have many other ideas about the whole business, including the Super Joy Box 13 and a GameCube controller (contained within the case of course) to act as an input device, a PS2 input keyboard (that would fit in the grips of the machine so you could type anywhere, I like the FrogPad idea, thought of that with my OTHER Mac Mini projectâ€¦), and my favorite (and most amazingly difficult: resoldering the RAM slot. The only reasons I'm not done with it yet (or have even started it) are the 15 kHz RGB thing and the lack of funds. It would be a great machine for playing games, especially PSone games because it can be smaller than the actual system. Many other emulators would run great on it, but I would love it for photo(shop) and video editing on top of the whole thing (forgot to mention that my design includes a universal media card reader and uses the second Firewire interface for it). The unfortunate thing is that most portables do not include a good speaker system, something I would remedy with a JBL OnStage (though it might suck up a bit more power than I want it to). AirPort and Bluetooth would be necessities on a project such as this, especially with all of the wireless devices and hotspots nowadays. All in all, it would cost over $1,000, so I must acquire decent funds before starting.
