could it be possible to create a digital to analog converter board so that you could convert a digital lcd like say the gba screen to an lcd that could accept an analog video feed? if so this would be much smaller and cheeper than other screens such as psone screens or pocket tvs.

Sure it's possible but you'd have to be an engineering master, on the level of the people that design things like consoles and such.

well there pretty much are devices like that commercially available for the gba.
but the gba screen is inferior to many pocket TVs. ...although I've seen some really bad pocket TVs...

by the time you paid just the shipping on this device (from HK), you're approaching the 'real screen' pricepoint.

That and the combination of GBA (SP) and converter is rather large because you still need the GBA guts since this thing goes into the cart slot.

im thinkin like one that could go directly to the lcd and not need the gba board. ive seen the one that goes into the cart slot, but i don't care for it.

it's possible but so hard it isn't worth it. broken psone screans are really cheap and easy to fix and high quality so you could probably get one for much less than a digital converter

you have to fix things depending on their problems

you have to know what is broken to fix it.

there's fixes for 3 of the things that could go wrong with it in my how-2, the how-2 isn't done yet but i got that part

Look for screens with bad backlights, then you can just do the LED mod to replace it (because you should do it anyway, you just save money this way).

I'll be putting up some pics of my backlight mod (it is different than Ben's) tomorrow morning that worked really well. If you're feeling up to the challenge (and I assure you, it is HARD to do), you can get an awesome looking screen that uses a lot less power than the original.
