How to Make a Cart port.

If for your new atari flashback 2.0 you want to add a cart port, a cheep alternitive is to take an old 5 1/2 floppy cable. The first thing that you do is cut the extra 6 pins off, I used a bandsaw for this. Then you have a 24 pin port that needs to be modded to beable to open the cart. You can then take some plastic to open the carts door and super glue it to the newly made port. Now it is ready for use and it already has a ribbin cable attached.

Do you mean 5 1/4? I can't find 5 1/2 cables anywhere.

yeah, there is no such thing as 5 1/2, though people often say that.

Sorry, 5 1/4 thanks for the correction. I dont know what i was thinking, and it was used in Ben's first VCSp. Any way that is the method for my VCSp in progress. The way people were talking about buying a port for lots of money, i thought about posting another way, thanks yall.

Find a really old computer at a yardsale or someplace with a 5 1/4" floppy in it.

Why are we saying 5 1/4, the technical term (that looks better) is 5.25" floppy.

Why not? It's the same size. it's really a matter of preference.

Whatever, its just that the professional term for a larger size of drive bay (for an optical drive) is written as 5.25" and the smaller size (for a hard drive/floppy drive) is 3.5". Or at least that's how I've always seen it.

With the size errors aside, hopefully, lol. I hope everyone can figureout how to do this mod. Thanks soundwave for getting the picture of Ben's mod for me. My camera doesn't work anymore so i wouldn't be able to get a pic of mine. It is probably the least coastly way to make a cart port. Oh and the best way to find theese cables is to find a realy old computer at a garage sale, or you might try a computer repair shop. I got mine from my work when they were throwing away a lot of "junk", to make room for the new computers.
