is there such a thing as a snoac?

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

I dunno, what about the Tristar 64? Didn't it have a slot for NES carts and another for SNES carts? I know the NES was a glop-top with 85 pins, but I don't know how it played SNES games…

use the search people!
no snoac known of, tristar 64 used a whole mother board.
maybe someday a flash of greatness will shed unto us all and a snoac will be built and mass produced for games and !!!what not!!!
i dont know much anything about integrated circuits(they confuse me) but i assume there will be snoac's available someday cause we already have goacs(what 16-bit plug and play tv games are usually based on)
so just keep using those wishing *stars*(sparkle) :D

Yeah, but not small enough, I was hoping for something the size of an NOAC…

I think the Tristar (if I remember correctly, it was discussed here once long ago) uses a mix of the SNES board and an fpga to run SNES games.

right, I assume it's the audio processing unit that's mainly in the fpga

FPGA? What is this you speak of? Also, would it be possible to build a new board for the SNES like gannon did for the Atari 2600? I know there would be a lot of surface-mount crap to do (I wonder if ladyada might help us?), but would it be possible?

You might be able to FPGA-ize it... Good idea!

But they can reduce the Genesis and Dreamcast down to a single chip but the SNES eludes them? No the only thing that would slow them down is the audio chip, its a custom thing and so info about its specific details are not known publicly. If someone/chip designer could get them then we could have an SNOAC easy.
