No Sound at all through PSone LCD

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

No Sound at all through PSone LCD

Post by EvilnessNMyVeins »

I know there has been thousands of threads about no sound but video.
And yes I have the Headphones shorted, Yes the wires are connected good and its ground.
I have heard of shorting a resistor for this but when trying through continuity testing I wasn't sure if I was shorting the right thing. I am also fearing trial and error because of an accidental removal of a piece from the PSone LCD board.... which didn't harm the video at all but still no sound.
I know Gamelver is the expert on this but he is in Portugal and I was hoping someone had a pic or can tell me the name of the piece to short.
I would post pics to let someone circle it or something of the nature but I do not have a digital camera so any help again would be appreciated.

There are two places to connect the sound input, and you choose them depending on whether or not you are using composite or RGB video input. The two sound inputs are listed in the sticky. Slot 2, pins 2 and 3 are for composite; slot 2, pins 9 and 10 are for RGB. Make sure you are using the right ones.

I do have the right ones hooked up all is correct except for what component to short which I have tried through continuity testing to fid it, but accidentally removed a piece that I don't know if it was that component or not but shorting it did not give me sound so I don't want to accidentally loose another piece so I am asking if anyone knows what component to short to prevent injury to the board.

You don't "short" any component per se, there are 3 solder pads on the back of the screen (or you could use the leads going to the I/O board connector) that you place a blob of solder on. I believe this sends power to an audio amplifier that powers the speakers.

No gamelvers solution for it after he jumped the three headphone pads together was to short a resistor and I tried tracing it and I either have the wrong resistor shorted or its not working. The speakers work as I hooked it up to my PS2 so its not that which is prohibiting it.

For gamelvers thread:

Ah, well I don't know which component, but you can probably find it through Gamelver's method.

He said just to trace the line from Audio(L) and I did and I shorted it but nothing happend so I'm not sure if its in the latter row of components, So its safer just to wait and make sure if its the right one.
