ps1 screen problems

well the screen's light will blink a few times and then just go blank, i tried the thing with the 7805 regulator and it still does the same thing. any ideas whats wrong?

the CCFL isn't the best in the psone lcd, it's probably dieing.

Its the tube thing that lights the screen, you cant fix it if its burnt out.

The best way to fix it is to ditch the tube in favor of the LED mod. Make sure to use some superbright LEDs or 6 instead of 3. The whole mod can be explained by someone here, or you can just look on doomportables under video mods. Be extremely careful not to shock yourself, they say 30v on doomportables, it's actually about 1,000VAC (close to 10 times what comes out of your electrical sockets at home) and try not to touch anything inside the light box, oil will contaminate it and it will not look right.

well it does come on for a second, but it just goes out.

It is probably the cathode tube, but it could be that your batteries are too weak to power the sucker, the cold cathode tube will shut off when the voltage/amperage is too low, it won't fade like a normal bulb. Check how many mAH your batteries store, the unmodded PSone screen takes about 1A to power it.

Closer to 750mA actually, and 1000VAC is about 8.33 times the output of a wall socket, but it still hurts like hell.
