XBOX DVD drive replacement

Post by Dave »

My XBOX's DVD drive is out of commition. Does anyone know where i can get a new drive relatively cheap and from a trustworthy shop? My broken one is a Philips which are known to die but are good drives while they last. I'm so depressed  .......no Halo.

http://www.llamma.com/xbox/

They sell just about everything the Xbox is built off. So they sould be a good place o buy from, they also have been around for a while so I doubt their untrust worthy or likely to take you money and run.

Hmm well you have to remembver your buying the Rom at one piece. Your not going to find anything under $50, if you think you can get an xbox for under 100 then just buy a new one.
Then make back your lose buy selling the mobo here or on ebay.

Get a Samsung, their's much better than either Phillips or Thomson.

What error message are you getting?

According to this, error 11 is " No DVD Found". No idea exactly what that means...

could be the dvd drive or the laser...........
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

It's better to buy a new one than to buy an overpriced laser.

Clean off the laser, and adjust the laser brightness.

Here's some repair linkage:
Llamma's DVD repair page.

The laser works fine. It will let me play every once in a while but once I press the eject button or turn it off then on again it will go back to the customer service screen. I'm pretty sure it's with the gears I can hear them stutter at startup and sometimes of stuff is loading.

Hmm... That would be bad. Maybe a piece of your gear chipped off. Can you hear things ratteling if you shake the drive?
